Concept sketching of another character from my anime series project.
"Grey Angel" is one of the most recent characters to receive a MASSIVE character overhaul. I wasn't really sure what to do with him for the longest, but then... Supernatural Season Four came along and brought with it a slew of Angels with a brand new sort of mythology... and I ate it up. So obviously, Grey now has a lot (in general) in common with the reoccurring character Castiel.
I'm still trying to work things more to my own purposes though, so he's another ongoing-work-in-progress type character. Because before I can really fully define him, I'll have to more clearly define the nature of "God" and Angels in my story/world. I'm certainly thinking to follow in Supernatural's footsteps, but I already had quite a few ideas of my own in mind, so it's already a mix up and I'll likely tweak it even further along the way.
Probably one of the most important aspects right now is that I'm "seriousing him up" a bit. He used to be one of the goofier characters, but I think I'm going to downplay that now. He's still going to be essentially the polar opposite of Julius/Tsutsumi though... they'll be seen arguing all the time.
I'm not really sure what to do about his powers. Again, Supernatural has me thinking different things now. However, the Angels in Supernatural were also ridiculously powerful and I'd rather not make them that extreme since I need him to be about on par with the rest of the "heros" in the series.
Originally he had really long hair...

But I've been reconsidering that for a while now... and not just because of Castiel. Xp I think I just had an obsession with boys with long hair for a while... Meh... I blame anime and the Green Ranger. XD But for the redesign, when I think about Grey and his personality, this sort of short hair style works a lot better I think. And I will admit that Stephen Stills had something to do with me deciding I liked that particular type hairstyle that I used here.
The long coat is something I'm debating on though... It's another borrowed element of Castiel, but... it fits the character and his environment really well. So I'd like to keep it. Main problem really just being that the main character, Daniel, wears something very similar.
I'm still working on a name for him too... "Grey Angel" has always just been a codename of sorts, a title. Here recently I've decided he needs a more concrete name... so I'm scouring the web for Angel Names, seeing if I catch anything that really fits. And if I can't, then I'll follow Supernatural again and make one the fuck up. XD
