“Viskal Town Guards, or Royal Guards, as they are often called, represent the main military and police force within the undercities of the Viskal. They are very traditionalist, handing down the duty and armour through the generations, often seen as nobles by common city folk.
They come in two main variants, the Highlander Viskal ‘Safeguard’ and the Flatland Viskal ‘Skirmisher’
The Safeguard makes up the main bulk of the force, relying on the heavy built Highlander as well as very thick and heavy armour to just smash through opposition. Commonly armed with a bladed lance as well as a pneumatic ram, which is located on their left arm and powered by a pressurised air tank on the back of the armour. The ram appears to be devised from a Viskal mining device, making it able to easily punch through thin sheets of armour.
The Skirmisher is a more specialist unit, focusing on high mobility, able to dash around and climb over obstacles, they likely serve as a scout and ambush unit, armed with lighter armour and throwing knives as well as a short sword for backup, perfect for short range support and hit and run manoeuvres. One oddity about the Skirmisher that was discovered is the presence of an air tank on the back of the armour, which is neither filled nor connected to any device, likely a remnant of some system that is now no longer in use.
But don’t let the fancy, ornate armour and big bladed weapons fool you! The Royal Guard suffers from a lack of actual combat experience due to the lack of wars among the Viskal Folks, making them seem far more impressive than they actually perform.”
