Fluffles are subterranean mammals that feed on roots, but, they over populate quickly which leads to famine and disease. Eventually starvation forces them to forage for food on the surface. Which they are quickly snatched up my predators. After predators have eaten their fill, there is an abundance of food and healthiness for their remaining warren. This is a real survival mechanic called predator satisfaction, where the prey appear so quickly at the same time that predators can't eat them all and the remaining members of that species survives. These little fluffles started associating being eaten with prosperity for their communities. A kind of "burn the forest to allow new growth" mentality. They develop a kind culture/religious thing were they sacrifice themselves for the betterment of the group. Fluffles are prey that want to be eaten. They believe that if they become food, they will be sent to a paradise afterlife. Those whom die that don't become food are reborn to try again.
