I'm surprised nurses don't get mad when you press the A button over and over again as if it will magically make your Poke`mon heal faster.

Heh guilty as charged for that. I also had a habit of holding the A button down when doing attacks thinking it would make it crit. more often ^^;. Oh and there was also the myth of holding A+B+Down when throwing a PokeBall. Sometimes I think it actually did influence a higher capture rate ^^;;;.
Good old A button. :B Why not take the whole "Welcome to the pokemon center" line and just get to the point. :B 15 years + and by now, many people should know what a center is. :I "Welcome; Let me heal your pokemon" dede deaddeee... "Here you go. :I I know you always come back..."
It might interest you too know that (at least in D/P onwards) if you ever managed to get the gold trainer card (4 of the 5 star achievements gained) and then talk the nurse, she would start with the usual lines, but at "Would you like me to heal..." she would then say something like "oh, wow, you have a gold trainer card! I've seen several trainers with a silver card, but never a gold one!" (something like that) and then she'd ask your name saying she won't forget you. After that whenever you go to her she'll say "It's great to see you (insert name here)! You want the usual, am I right? (on yes) I will be pleased to take your pokemon for a few seconds. (dee dee dededeeee) Thank you for waiting. We hope to see you again!" (I checked this one for platinum - and yes, I have a gold card for Platinum and Pearl, only the battle tower eludes me...)
