Perhaps one of the most terrifying sights to behold is that of a lowly foot soldier that has been ordered by their general to march into an unknown land that is rumored to be owned by dragons.
You don't have much choice in the matter, the army is paying enough coin to keep yourself and your family fed and taken care of. Marching at night is exhausting, but a good strategy either way, your company will be able to ambush the nation of Muir'Beinn. The stars above twinkle in the night by themselves, it's a moonless sky and the chill of the air burns your lungs with each tiresome step. Your company stops, you're too far away to hear your general's orders, but you can sense that something is wrong. There is a flash of bright light, then suddenly an explosion behind you followed by a deafening thunderclap! The siege weaponry was just shattered into pieces by lightning, on this cloudless night. What came next was a terrible bright glow of flame that sweeps across the battlefield, igniting people, horses, wagons, and the ground itself with equal intensity. The flames lap at your back as another wave of flame passes by, just barely you catch a glance at a black figure soaring overhead at a blur of speed! You fall to the ground and attempt to hide behind some burning debris, fearing for your life. It felt like hours went by, but in reality it wasn't even ten minutes... things grew quieter, groans of agony filled the battlefield.. if one can call this a battlefield and not a execution. Your company is annihilated, the fourth company is all that remains and they're in tatters.

Your heart sinks into your chest as the ground behind you quakes, turning around, you see him for only a moment. Obsidian scales glistening in firelight, eyes, maw, and markings a chilling ethereal blue color. The dragon takes in a quick breath, there is a bright flash of light, heat... then nothingness.
