The man, the story, The wannabe legend, you have to but look him in the eye and tell me he isn't if you can.
I GIVE YOU:
Name: Shashka (formerly) Snefru Al Dreahtan of the Uraeus Dynasty
Nicknames/Insults: The Fabulously Incandescent (self-imposed), the Sprout of the desert, the Fallen Prince, the Royal Disgrace, the Lustful Assassin, the Prince who lost his tail.
Occupation: Mercenary, cut-throat and all around sword for hire, doubles as a part-time concubine for hot people or those he wants something out of.
Personality: At Shaksha’s core there seem to be only 2 things: his never ending carnal desire and his absolute devotion to unshackled freedom and non-commitment. A man who moves from place to place in search not of higher purpose but the small everyday joys of life, probably to fuck them. He is a lover, a fighter and hungry for everything and any pleasure that life has to offer to him, living in the moment and with great abandon. Shunning his royal upbringing from a young age, he sought instead to shed his shackles of duty and live for himself and only himself. This comes with a certain amount of self absorbed ego but he has the charm and the cunning to pull it off. His thirst also breeds an insatiable curiosity for everything unknown to him, from the smallest thing to the greatest mystery.
Of course this type of thinking comes with its own fair share of drawbacks, namely his refusal for long term plans and tendency to follow his impulses (and more often than not, his loins), which can land him into large heaps of trouble. Though he has managed to slither away alive so far, just gaining a few mementos along the way in the form of scars. Not that he minds too much, as he loves to regale the tales of how he got them, while undressing to show them, of course.
Still, his wild side and love for taking what he wants, doesn’t mean he is amoral, as he operates by a coe of his own and can feel bad for not living up to that standard. It is partially derived from stories about old heroes and legends that he has always been fascinated with and wished to emulate to quench his desire for everything he sees. His lascivious demeanor also doesn't mean he is constantly thirsty or that he'd sleep with about anyone. Like with most things, his palette is a lot more sophisticated and knows to reserve himself for finer partners. He still has his pride as a prince after all, meanign he would not debase himself to sleeping with someone below his, rather lofty, standards. And of course he has his own preferences, specifically, human and elven ladies.
Whether there are things he regrets or misses about his previous life, that is for him alone to know, for now.
Skills and Abilities:
• Weapons expertise: As part of his lofty beginnings, Shaksha, like all members of the royal family, was trained in the usage of a plethora of weapons and had a natural knack for most of them. Swords, spears, axes, knives, not to mention various tail attachments, his talent was impressive. Later in life, he gravitated towards much more elegant weapons, accentuating a faster combat style to match his lithe frame. His favourite being a personal Kopesh he keeps with him at all times.
• Stealthy movement: Though not a favoured technique of his, he is still very proficient in burrowing under the sand to move stealthily, despite his scales clashing with most environments in terms of colour.
• Hypnotic powers: A hereditary ability of the Uraeus family, it allows any member of the bloodline to exude a spiraling effect from their eyes and hood, which has the ability to entrance anyone who sees it. Shaksha also possesses this ability, letting him hypnotize any poor fool who looks him in the eye and the hood. Of course, this ability comes with its own share of drawbacks, the greatest of which being the need for concentration on a single being, which leaves him vulnerable to attack and limits the scope of this power. Another issue is that the victim can resist if their will is strong enough or if they are alert or steeled when he attempts to brainwash them. Generally, full brainwashing takes time and is not a perfect science, though surprise and relaxation can be employed to make the fall easier.
• Fighting style: Shaksha is lithe and slender, qualities he takes advantage of in combat. He likes to stay on the move, slither, bob and weave in battle, while using a shield to compensate for his usually light armor and his tail to quickly go in and then out, using reach to stay out of harm’s way. He is also very deceptive, delighting in mind games and teasing his opponent to put them out of balance (and sometimes score a date afterwards, if the enemy is hot enough). Generally he prefers to fight from range, using a spear and throwing knives to keep an opponent on their toes but has more than enough tricks up close. Too bad bowmanship was not part of his curriculum. His weakness is the lack of bulk and raw strength behind his strikes as well as problems dealing with more heavily armored opponents. Also, his tail doesn;t provide strong grounding the same way legs would, so someone stronger could easily pull him out of balance.
• Venom: Another ability he inherited from his bloodline, his fangs can produce a lethal poison that can cause over stimulation and seizure if enough of a dose is injected into the bloodstream. He is of course highly resistant to it, though not immune. A fact that he takes full advantage of as he has found ways to utilize it in a more creative manner. Small, distilled doses can boost someone’s speed and he even has managed to synthesize a nice little aphrodisiac potion out of it, thanks to the help of a traveler he “persuaded” to help him. Of course he only has a limited amount of venom to spare but, as long as he is well fed and well rested, it comes back.
POSSESSIONS:
• A golden Kopesh sword, a gift from his younger sibling, Shikhsen, who had an aptitude for smithing. Made specifically for Shaksha and his own grip, it is perfect in his hands
• A long spear with a hooked head, used for utility as well as offense. His best weapon by far, allowing him both range and precision he thrives in during combat.
• Throwing knives, used as impromptu throwing weapons. A skill not taught but rather something he learned himself and perfected among the peasantry, who did not frown upon it, like the royals did.
• A special shield, made of a powerful alloy and adorned with a magical obsidian crystal, carved into a perfect sphere and infused with magical energies that gave it a shifting purple hue, as well as a mechanism to open and close a reinforced lid on it, to protect the sphere from damage. The sphere itself has its own properties, allowing the user to open the lid and release a powerful flashlight effect upon the enemy, which if seen can cause temporary blindness, dizziness and even greater susceptibility towards the natural hypnotic talent of the royal family. A perfect tool for defence and offence, it was the culmination of the combined work of Shikhsen and Shasha’s almost twin sister, Nefreli, who had an aptitude for magical study as well as years of stored knowledge from the ancestral library. Poised to be one of the Uraeus' prized family treasures, an honorary position of artefacts that belonged to them. That however changed when Shaksha instead stole it before going into exile. His younger siblings did always mention he’d be a great bearer for it after all.
• A tail blade, attached to the tip of his tail and used for deceptive strikes and surprise attacks. It can serve both as a cutting and thrusting tool, as well as throwing sand or dirt towards the enemy (their fault for falling for it).
• A long wooden jug, laced with bronze for durability, in which he keeps doses of his venom and other chemicals. It can hold up to two different substances which can alternate or mix via a clever mechanism, involving small holes that control which substance is released from the spout when covered. A very clever device that he acquired in his travels. He calls it his “Assassin’s Jug”.
• A box containing basic chemical mixing equipment that he needs to make more fun uses of his venom, a gift from a rather uptight foreigner who used it to perform alchemy, as he called it. Very useful but fragile, needs to take care not to break it.
Backstory:
Shaksha was born the third child of the royal Uraeus family, undisputed rulers of the Golden Land, named after its wealth and the golden hue of its sands, where the royals mark their status by attaching a beautiful golden cap at the end of their snake tails, adorned with rubies and re fitted every shedding until the snake obtains his or her full size. A sign of status and authority the royal family has flaunted as much as their unique purple scales.
As third in line for the throne, he never did take much responsibility in his royal duties, preferring instead to spend his time watching heroic plays, practicing his weapon skills and chasing every raw impulse that crossed his mind, which more often than not meant carnally enjoy very hot person he laid eyes on, with a nice dash of hypnosis to ensure their pleasure and sometimes, silence after the fact.
As expected, this earned him the ire of his father, who had hoped Shaksha would serve as the military commander of the empire, as his fighting skills had already earned him the respect of his soldiers. Still, the boy had no mind for strategy, preferring impulse and his own pleasure, shunning his education and obligations for that. Though his older brother Indekih shared their father’s beliefs, he was way more lenient towards Shaksha, which helped him get away with a few mishaps their father never learned about, thankfully.
Shaksha’s relationship with the rest of his siblings was generally amicable, though he did build up a few rivalries over the years they usually seemed to be playful and ending in his favour when it came to fighting or sex, with only Indekih beign able to match him in a fight. Thus Shaksha grew from a boy to a man, retaining all of these habits and only growing bolder about his desire to be himself and flaunt any tradition that he didn’t like. Indekih assuming the throne did not help with Shaksha’s ego, as the two brothers shared a close bond and friendship, one complimenting the other in more ways than one.
However, Shaksha’s royal life soon came to an end at the visit of some foreign dignitaries, seeking to trade precious materials that Indekih had deemed to be of great importance. Shaksha didn’t care too much for the ordeal but seeing one of them with a woman who was unlike anyone he had ever seen, his eyes were set and his impulse control thrown out the window. Slowly, he seduced the woman and, in an act of pure thrill seeking, took her to a back room and did the deed while just a wall away people from all over the empire and beyond had gathered to celebrate. The snake prince hoped the music and the wall would cover his deed, not realizing the room he had chosen was a secret one, meant to open and reveal a grand gift of appreciation towards the dignitaries. Needless to say, the walls parting and the main ambasador seeing his wife being plowed by the third prince on top of a bed meant for him, and kept going despite being found out, was not a good look for anyone involved.
This, combined with Shaksha’s nonchalant attitude about the entire incident was too much, his charms doing nothing and a small attempt to patch things with the dignitary via hypnosis almost cost him his dick and nearly put the two nations in the road to war. It was clear that this would not be forgiven. Thus, Indekih publicly stripped Shaksha of all his titles, exiled him to the sands and personally ripped the tail jewel straight from his tail and flogged him all the way to the city barracks, where he would be imprisoned before his exile.
Not defeated, Shaksha used this time to get help from a guard he knew and manage an escape, which allowed him the opportunity to sneak back into the royal palace and take a few things with him, including his weapons, some traveling provisions and of course the shield.
Thus he left his life of royalty behind and went out into the world, as Shaksha the mercenary.
