With a startled scream, Sascha shot up from his sleeping position and almost jumped out of his bed.
Immediately he frantically pawed around in his bed, before he found his favorite plushie, the long-tailed lynx Sammy, and snuggled him close, trying to forget the horrible nightmare he just woke up from.
But it wasn't enough and the vivid images of monster vines attacking him and a hidden evil lurking in the cellar were still very present in his mind.
The little bear hybrid started to sniffle and soon tears were running down his face.
His purple nightlight offered little comfort as well, as the shadows it cast in the room seemed to be filled with bad things... and even Sammy wasn't enough to calm down the shivering ball of fluff.
Crying he entangled himself from the blanket and then ran out of the room, plushie in hand, as fast as he little legs could carry him.
On the floor he quickly stopped unsure if he should wake his step parents, but decided against it, since he knew they would comfort him, but they had to work tormorrow.
He then headed to another door and, without stopping to knock, bolted into his brother Kuraiko's room.
There he stood in the doorway of the pastel colored room, with a star shaped nightlight casting a soft golden light. Even the shadows seemed softer here and he immediatly felt safer, when he heard Kurai stir and wake up.
Sascha was still shaken as he hugged a very unhappy looking Sammy to his chest and sniffled.
"Wha...whats wrong?" he heard his brother ask, still drowsy from sleep.
"Bro-bro? I had a nightmare... can I sleep with you?"

Nightmares are always terrifying for a little kid and that can really shake them up, even if their stories and bad dream sometimes sound silly.
So it's good to know my little bearkitty has a (slightly younger, but they are more or less the same age) brother to comfort him and cuddle up with him, so they can then sleep peacefully again.
And of course Sascha would do the same for his brother Kuraiko.
The picture was inspired by a night of really nasty nightmares that I had just a couple of days ago. And sadly I couldn't just waddle to my brother's room to sleep there.
Bleugh... that was a terrible night and I didn't really fell asleep again, even when I kept the light on.
Love the emotions conveyed in this picture, poor tyke looks really terrified. And I always love how Sammy as his favorite plushie is "alive" and reacts to a scene.
Gorgeous lighting, an adorable room and my gosh, those footed PJs look so soft and cute.
Wish I had them IRL.

Ah, the wonders of the unconscious...
Let's try to teach little Johnny or Janie an important life lesson by completely flipping their worlds upside down in a life-like dream state. That's sure to help the morals resonate in them, and definitely not the terrors of falling, monsters, or darkness.
This is extremely heartfelt and adorable.

It's so sad this nightmares happen. This bear deserve cuddles and nice deep sleep.
I know from experience that nightmares can be the worst even if you are awake. Cause they never will let you go. Even now 20 years later I can't shake the shock of the one I had that I wake up and everyone is dead around me.

I think you need a haircut you look so flooofy there ;)
I had and still have alot of nightmares with themes that come back. A dream that i had alot in my childhod was that i'm suddenly standing in a unknown towm on a busy sidewalk in the city . I'm sourrounded by people and me standing in barefeet and pjs there. I want to go home but i dont know where i am and staret to cry but nobody stops and helps. The people al have uncannx faces like only grey without regular mouth or nose. Suddenly i wake up from these i never got home in that dream.
The other one is like the first one, but this time i get home. I open the door to the flat and my parents sit on the sofa and watch TV. They look over and ask who i am. They dont remember anymore that im their son and im not their child anymore. I had this dream more often when i was in psychic clinic as 13 year old and later in the orphanage i had to live until end of regular school time.
and often, since i'm so into pool toys and i'm clincing to them (they are more than toys they ar in the same leauge plushies are) i have nightmares with people destroying them and i cant do anything and cant even look away.

Corona hairstyle!
Naw, just fluffy like a cub and ultra messy from tossing around in his sleep due to the nightmare.
Those sound like really rough nightmares, I'm so sorry to hear that :( *hugs*
Especially if they connect to real life.
I have a few that haunt me as well (I had them often as a kid) and are probably responsible for my fear of darkness. And the one that inspired the picture was as also quite nasty.
