I was 3 miles into my hike when (it was turning into a jog for some reason) when i saw this guy a horn toad *shivers* http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horned_toad not good to step on.

thanks hehe I go to a great gym that has a martial arts classes all the time so when i work out without shoes no one notices even on the treadmill ! I hate shoes, notice any on any of my personal pics ?

when i first saw it it had flecks of yellow about it but by the time i got my camera out it had changed its colouring and size it ran off right after that shot

In a way, you should have considered yourself lucky. The species is almost extinct here in Southern California, and I remember seeing them all over the place during my boyhood "Backyard Excursions." thank goodness it wasn't a scorpion.

too right! Ive had my run with those guys too. usually while making sure the pups didn't get stung. very few reptiles in the high desert as i remember.

Yeah...I used to see them all the time too. but I'm talking nearly 50 years ago. (don't tell on me...I'm an old fart!!) They used to freak me out the way they'd bleed out their eyes!!
