OUTDATED - DO NOT REFERENCE OR USE

Personally, I myself am not part of the diaper supremacy gang, while I would love to wear and use one from time to time, I'm not into the idea of 24/7. mainly because adult diapers are usually always plastic backed, which means poor air circulation, and being stuffy as heck, there's the endless rustling of the plastic which gets annoying and distracting, great for getting into the little headspace, not as much for more serious stuff. While there is some toilet convenience... going no.1 is fine, but going no.2 is a bit of a problem... a big one is the smell, you're not exactly a baby, so unless you have a very specific diet, or if you weirdly enjoy it... it's going to smell horrible if you do make a mess. There's also the fact that some diapers cannot be re-taped, or if they could, it would not be as effective, which means you can't really take it off till it's used. 4 tapes are a lot of work, and I can never seem to align them right.
Which is why I'm more of a Pull-Ups/Diaper Pants stan, firstly, they can actually substitute for underwear to a degree, they have more breathable fabric, barely make any noise, and can be taken on and off without destroying them! If there wasn't any stigma around wearing diapers, I would actually consider these as potential replacements, although I would still keep a pair of actual undergarments around (diapers are expensive).
Now... If they made baby diapers in adult sizes however... that would be a different story... Seriously, modern baby diapers feel super soft and comfy, to the point where I feel some envy for the babies who can fit in them, plus they have super cute designs! Oh sure, ABDL brands have colorful designs, but they look a bit too bright and garish for me, compared to the more pastel, and lighter colored ones of baby diapers, like those from pampers or huggies.

Who needs the bathroom.
When you can wear the bathroom.
I never bought any myself, but really want to one day.
Wearing them 24/7, sound fun in my head. But the idea of doing it for real, ehhh, makes me feel uncomfortable.
Anyway,
Great meme, great picture.

Now, back to the shadows I go.

I'm apart of the tape crowd but I can see your points on how pull ups have some benefits when compared to a diaper. Maybe in about 10 years or so, we can actually have diapers that replicate what babies currently wear or we might be perpeptually lagging behind actual babies in terms of diaper quality.
For the meme: Brittany could sit on the potty with a diaper and then demonstratively fight the "Potty Monster". I respect that she likes to make himself in diapers, I also have ^^
But to the reality: You have addressed a few very interesting points. (Apart from the fact that diapers, whether for babies or DL/ABDL's are a huge additional environmental burden)
There are also some upstanding ABDL's and DL's who openly talk about how 24/7 is pretty annoying for a normal lifestyle, especially if you wear them for fun, that you train your body more reluctantly to "incontinence". Two years ..and you have almost no control over your bladder at least. Some would like that too, but that only works if you have made appropriate provisions, and or no financial problems.
But I think that there are many nice diapers, and many of them are also breathable, you just have to inform yourself properly. Baby diapers with this textile layer, I do not like at all, I can also tie me a carpet around and make pure :P
Since I'm like Brittany: Just the best for my bottom :>

I like your thoughts on diapers from an AB / DL standpoint. I've never read such a convincing argument for 'Cloth Backed' over 'Plastic Backed'. You pull it off well and, if you have a chance to contribute to those who may be struggling on which way to go, I would definitely advise you to share what you have shared here.

I prefer 'plastic backed'. I've tried adult cloth-like diapers and , likely due to how I am far from a pro in self-diapering due to being without eyesight, I leak more and am not able to make slight adjustments if, upon getting a tape in, I find I need it more firmly placed in a different spot.
If Pampers, or Huggies, made adult sizes for their cloth-like diapers, I would be 100% all-in! I would like to go with Pull-Ups, as the trouble of taping is totally removed and more than a single use is possible, but the designs on Pull-Ups and Easy Ups are not appealing. At least not in comparrison to what you may find on Pampers Swaddlers, or Huggies: Special Delivery. The 'Special Delivery would, until better designs are made for the Pull-Ups, my go to as I learned they do have a stork as part of one of the designs. When I have them around, I use the Size 1s to diaper my Yoshi Lovey that, given life's circumstances, is the closest thing I have to a cuddle buddy.

Depending on how stressed I am is what I use to determine if I will wet and/or mess. When my anxiety is high and the desire to be violent starts to boil in my chest, I will look to the diaper to take the damage that my fists need not make over a given frustration. The clean up is awful and, as you said, the smell is certainly very difficult to make go away anytime soon. This is why I am trying to find better ways to release myself of anger and frustration that are, uh, less messy than my current method of pushing out stress. *Blush*
