I see this as an au where the army didnt treat horses like crap and colonel is just training him for his actual rider, and spirit wasnt abused, hes just… stubborn.

Yeah, spirit in a modern au would’ve been tamed in a more paisent manner, with food and grooming. Yeah? I may make a fic of that where his riders a racing jockey, i feel like spirit would be one hell of a race horses. But also smart enough to memorize dressage after watching another horse do ot?

Yeah, but i can see a not abused spirit as a good riding horse. Friendly, fast, and he might even enjoy dressage

... I don't think Dressage would be his thing. He'd rather be forced into being the Colonel's war horse instead for battle purposes. But for how I see it, he'd either be a free horse in general, or a ranch horse for work, or maybe a bucking bronco for rodeo.

Yeah, i can see that bronco rodeo idea having him be a good horse outside of the rodeo, a freedom loving stallion whos super fast to ride. Hed prolly be a awesome racehorse, if you treat him right.
