So, as a few of you know, I have a full-time job (have had one for 3 months now) where I sit at a computer all day and do... stuff. I love being on the computer (it's one of the first things I do when I get home is grab my laptop), but doing busy work on it for an entire work day is just tedious and boring most of the time. So about 2 1/2 weeks ago, I decided to teach myself to draw so that I could make work more interesting by taking breaks throughout to try and work on drawing skills.
I started on this guy Monday of last week and I've been working on him for about 15 minutes a day on average just to pass some time. I "finished" it today, so I figured I'd upload it. This is all done with just a mechanical pencil on a piece of printer paper =P
This is also the first drawing I've ever done where I looked at ZERO references. This entire thing came from my looking down at the piece of paper and tweaking it. Every other thing I've ever drawn in my life has been looking at a reference picture and either drawing it exactly or tweaking it very slightly (even the picture of Nogard that I drew, all I did was change subtle things. The pose and body structure are taken directly from something else, and major bonus points if you can figure out what =) ).
So, yeah, comments greatly appreciated. I'm EXTREMELY happy with how this came out and I really only have one or two little tweaks that I would like to make to it but I'm not sure how to get them to look right. I might color this, but for now it's "done." I'll probably start on a new dragon in a different pose next time and after I've done a handful of them, then I'll look at shading and trying to get muscle tone better and such.
Anyway, let me know what you think =)

hey cool dragon! pencil on white paper takes me back. i used to draw stuff like this every day on my lunch hour! i think the wings and neck are cool and one thing is you want to watch the legs and arms and make sure they look bulky enough! dragons are big fat meaty creatures so they usually have fat meaty legs. i think you did a pretty good job here but you could go more overboard with the meat if you wanted to!
