Well now this is a treat.
After a Few months of hemming and hawing about wondering whether or not I should do this, I finally knuckled down and decided, "You know what? Fuck it."
This is a take on one of my best friend's characters, "The Elastic Cats," owned and drawn by BalloonPrincess who was both gracious enough and thrilled to receive the hard copy of the pic when I finally finished it. And you know, that was better than I could have hoped. I have never drawn either of them before at all and well, I think I did a good job on them and so Did she. And for those of you who look onto her stories on her page when she posts, I am the Notorious, "Left Fielder," in her group's Saturday Night DnD sessions.
On another note, what I was gonna go for was something casual-looking, didn't want to go too insane with this one as it was my first time drawing them -and my first time using my expensive and New COPIC MARKERS- so I asked myself, "Self, You've run characters with the pair in DnD nights before as the superheroes, what would you think they'd be up to?" And I answered myself something simple after drawing them: If they're in their hero costumes -which I totally used the hell out of the reference images to draw them with- they'd probably be finishing up doing their hero work. And that got me thinking, welp, why not actually do something based on where they're from? So I came up with this.
Basically the pair have stopped some villain who had been attacking Crossroads' Shipping lanes using a mechanical squid monster to Evade both the Police and Harbor patrols as part of a scheme to do something... the plan escapes me. The Pair managed to get a hold of an empty Tanker and dressed it up to look like an enticing target for the villain to take for themselves. After taking the bait, the pair engaged with the menace and shut it down... Primarily thanks to The Plasticat's secret weapon: THE MIGHTY HELLBRINGER!!!! Which is buried in the machine to keep it from falling overboard. Thought that would be neat.
SO.
What do you all think about this one? To other fans of BalloonPrincess work, How'd I do?
