With Ali getting adjusted to the ship, he is confident for what is to come. Or so he thought. A horrible storm hits and puts the crew to the test! With emotions under pressure already between Longshot and Ankor it's not looking good for our sergal friend and what's more, Ali is in for a shocking time (literally).

The hybrid Yudan stood beside the captain at the helm, “What is our heading anyways?”
The red dragon chuckled, “Curious as ever there Yudy. An island that only appears after a great storm. Aye jest hope not to catch the tail end of it.”
The hybrid glared at the raven in the crow’s nest, “Eta?”
He gave a small sigh, “If ye and the bird don’t set aside differences then travelin with the likes of ye both will be a pain in my arse.”
The girl shrugged, “He’s the one with a stick up his ass.” Her eyes then went to Ankor and Alexander on the main deck. “Do you really think Ali will be a good addition?”
“Can’t ya go bother someone else? Aye have a ship to sail.”
The hybrid huffed and grumbled walking down to the lower decks. The captain gave a regretful sigh and looked up to the Raven who made eye contact and rolled his eyes. The old dragon shook his head, “Them youngins will be the end of me.”
“Show me again.” Alexander watched intrigued seeing him tighten the knot once again. After watching, the young male took the rope in his thin fingers and wound the rope around and tied it loose then pulled the end and it tightened. “How’s that?”
The tall sergal inspected and pulled the opposite end and saw it come loose. He looked at the boy with a raised brow. He then grew suspicious and leaned down eyeing him as he signed, [Are you not doing it tightly for a reason?]
Alexander gave a light-hearted grin shuffling, “Now Ankor, how could you suspect me of such a thing? Honestly.” Seeing the gaze from the male he bit his lip and sighed, “Alright, you got me. I just like watching you tie knots into things.”
A blush covered the male when hearing the phrasing that Ali had used. He coughed and cleared his throat before taking a loose end of the rope and began to loop and tie it then put it on the wrists of the boy and tugged down as it tightened. A small smirk upon his lips as he lifted on the rope which lifted the moomba from the ground and eye level with him.
A small giggle came from the kit as he fluttered his lashes at him, “Ankor, you can tie me up and knot me another time but now’s not the time for shibari either.” When being lowered he watched Ankor untie the rope then took it in his hands and began to tie it firmly, “I think I have a decent understanding of most things about the ship now. And how to secure the ropes. I would like to believe I can do things around here to help.” His smile didn’t last as he looked in the distance seeing darkened clouds and hints of lightning.
Ankor gazed down at the kit and waved at them to see what was wrong. The look on his face had looked like a mix of pain and fear.
“Never was a huge fan of storms.” Alexander said under his breath.
Blacktail stomped his foot on the deck, “Yudan!” When she came up from the decks she looked ahead to the storm and groaned, “Ugh, lemme guess we are going right through?”
“Wanna check ‘n see if we can go ‘round?” He didn’t meet her eyes. Blacktail could feel the natural pull of the wind and the ocean against the hull and rudder. It was pulling them in. This wasn’t much of a storm that they could go around. He felt hard pelts of water start to coat the deck, “All hands on! I want everyone alert. Yudy get yer goggles, I need you ahead to tell me if there are any sharp rocks. I don’t want to replace my bow too soon. Longshot eyes ahead. I need to know land measurements in meters. Ankor, Ali, mind the lines; mast and yardarm. Doziai, love, handle the helm wheel. I need to be at the bow to control what wind and water I can.”
“Aye, love.” The tigress kissed the red of his lips before adjusting her hat to avoid the water splashing off her fur.
Yudan went to the bow then began to claw and climb along the long wooden bowsprit. Often time the hybrid had referred it as the ship’s horn (Unicorn reference). Adjusting her goggles, she pulled her wings as close to her body as she could. Claws dug into the wood then sat up and waved a thumbs up to Ali, “Good luck on the first storm!”
Blacktail stood at the bow and let out a deep exhale as he gripped the railing. He seemed to be thinking to himself something. Maybe an inner prayer?
Longshot held his ground in the crow’s nest but adjusted his large goggles over his eyes. The wind picked up and the rain began its onslaught on the deck as the waves started to lift the bow and then dip under the stern.
Ankor took ropes and headed towards the bow first. He needed to make sure the crew had secure lines especially if this storm was going to be throwing them around. He tied off his Captain then went to Yudan along the horn and tied at her waist then to Doziai at the helm. He then began to climb the ratlines up to Longshot to tie him off. As expected, the raven took the rope to tie off himself. The sergal didn’t take offense and went back down. He watched as Ali was securing each line and went over each one twice.
Thunder crackled above as the rain began to grow harder. Lightning streaked across the sky lighting up the white of the waves that now crashed over the deck and rocked against the wood of the ship.
“ANKOR PULL THE SAILS!”
Without missing a beat, the sergal crawled up the ratlines swiftly and clung to the yardarm, and began to tie off the sails. Eyes glanced below to check on Ali at the secure lines but didn’t see the boy. Was he crouching? Ankor had to focus on the task at hand. He exhaled as he pulled the lines and secured the sails. Waves of throbbing, nauseating pain pulsed within his skull; he felt as though his previous meal may leave him. His eyes darted over to the ropes as he went to the next lines to secure. Desperately searching for a way to relieve his body from this miserable feeling, he thought of Ali’s face. That soft smile and chipper laugh. It was enough to move on and continue his task of lifting the sails.
Yudan dug her claws into the wood of the horn and squeezed her abdomen forcing her eyes to stay open despite the splash from the ocean and pounding rain that felt like bullets raining down. Her face turned to a grimace. Swallowing the pain and ignoring it the best she could be the only option. She only managed to block out some of the pain by keeping her mind occupied with other tasks. ‘No rocks, no boulders, no rocks, no boulders, holy shit!’ A giant wave took the bow down before it popped up. Coughing she sputtered and growled, “A LITTLE HELP CAPTAIN!”
The red dragon groaned as he gripped the railing firmly when the wave rolled over his body. The world seemed to spin around and a sharp, throbbing pain took hold of his gut, so much so that all he wanted to do was fall to his knees and hope the pain would cease. The voices in his head that normally contradicted each other now screamed in unison and told the captain to stop what they were doing and find a way out of this misery. Several voices echoed through his head. The howl of the wind and whipping of the waves against the creaking of the wood. The ship delved deep into a wave then rose the opposite side. He choked water out, “HOLD ‘ER STEADY DOZIAI!”
The tigress held the wheel firm, her knuckles turning white and her fingertips feeling splinters from the wood. The throbbing she felt in her hands seemed like the pain had been there forever and in a way, they were getting used to it, but at the same time, the fact it might stick a little while longer was terrifying. Perhaps against her better judgment, she swallowed the pain and gritted her teeth, and yelled, “AYE!”
Alexander was gripping at the secure line as panic took over; thoughts of endless pain crept up in his mind. What if this agonizing stabbing pain would never stop shooting through their ears and chest? The thunder made his heart sink as he heard it louder in his ears. It was exhausting and the pain took its toll on them. Tired, but unable to sleep and unable to stop it. For a second, he considered going to the lower decks but he knew he had to keep the lines secure. He couldn’t risk making Ankor look bad, no matter how terrified he was of the loud boom of thunder that made his entire body tremble.
The raven’s hands grasped the crow’s nest tightly and winced from the pelting rain, desperate for some form of relief from the sharp pelts to his head and hands. His mind raced; half panicked when seeing Yudan go down under a wave, then brief relief when she was still clinging on there. To offset the pain and turbulence he focused ahead finally seeing something of good news, “CAPTAIN! LAND 100 METERS!”
Blacktail took a deep breath and shifted their focus, determined to swallow the pain and keep going. “STEADY! YUDY?”
The hybrid gritted her teeth and growled under her breath as all her muscles strained, “NO ROCKS!”
“LONGSHOT!?” The red dragon felt the waves starting to settle.
“50 METERS! WE SHOULD DROP ANCHOR!”
Ankor barely heard Longshot and moved quickly towards the stern and did what he thought was to drop anchor.
The raven looked furious as he yelled as loud as his lungs allowed him, “BRACE!”
A hard jerk lurched the ship forward. Everyone was hit by the pull of the ship as the anchor dragged across the ocean floor. Doziai held the wheel hard but it whipped from her hand. Blacktail hurried to her and gripped the wheel, “NO YE DON’T! LONGSHOT?”
“20 METERS!” His eyes darted to the bowsprit and went wide, “HYBRID OVERBOARD! ALI! THE LINE!”
Alexander was trembling and looked to the lines and found Yudan’s seeing it pulling hard as if going to bed the frame that held it. Reaching to hold the line the rope whipped off the stand and darted across the deck. Thunder cracked and caused the boy to recoil and hold his ears firmly.
Longshot landed on the deck hard as his hands grabbed for the rope. Miss! As it neared the railing, he threw a dagger and tossed it. The rope trapped to the railing without the blade cutting it further. He grabbed the rope tight pulling back hard. When he saw the hybrid coming up from the waves, he didn’t feel any sense of relief. Just anger. Longshot pulled her body over and saw her heaving for air. Alive, good. He could yell at her later.
“IMPACT!” The captain yelled from the helm.
Again, a thrust of weight thrust everyone forward. Ankor was at Ali’s side quickly to comfort but he didn’t expect a Longshot rushing him and then a punch to the jaw. “You had one job! Secure the lines! Yudan could have been swept off to sea! She went under the fucking boat! Look at her! Not only that you threw anchor early!”
The hybrid had scrapes and cuts likely from the barnacles under the ship. Still choking up water, she waved a hand, “I’m well... enough.”
Captain got his bearings then helped up his wife and sighed seeing Longshot going at Ankor. He groaned and started to make his way down to the main deck to calm them.
Longshot then grabbed the hem of the top of Alexander’s top, “Where the hell were you!? Cowering like a scared lamb! YUDY NEEDED YO-” A swift hit to the bird’s beak send him skidding back across the deck.
Ankor’s eyes had a hint of a glow in them as he gripped his fist, “Fuck OFF LONGSHOT!” A snarl in his tone.
A crackle of thunder boomed overhead and what followed could only be described as a flash of light as lightning rolled up the main mast and then through the small fingers of the moomba who let out a startled shriek.
When the light subsided Ankor grabbed onto Alexander and touched his cheek in concern. The look in his eyes was devastating to see; the fear and sadness in them but soon it was replaced with shock.
Alexander thwarted the sergal, “I’m fine! It was my fault! I should have taken care of the lines! Yudy, I’m so sorry. It’s my fault.” He stared around in confusion, “What’s.. Everyone looking at?”
All of them had wide-eyed at the kit who seemed to be unaffected by the lightning. A normal person would be injured, out cold, or worse in a coma.
Blacktail looked to the boy, “Ye sure ye are alright? It’s not often one gets shocked by lightning and live to tell the tale.”
Longshot had wiped the blood from his beak and was helping Yudan to her feet. She was waterlogged and groggy at best as she leaned on the Raven. Despite their spats, she still relied on him, “Well... Land ho I guess... um... Captain?” Yudan stared at the land a pointed along the shoreline.
“What is that?” Longshot gazed at the large giant white masses along the beachline.
Alexander lowered a rope and slid down then touched it, “It’s foam or a type of poly-fil!”
Ankor was still concerned for Ali but the boy seemed to be just fine. He didn’t know if that worried him more or less. Although the others had quickly forgotten about the whole incident his eyes went to Longshot and saw his narrowed eyes. He could tell he was still furious and even more so Yudan had been put in danger for that. He should apologize but to what end? It didn’t matter to anyone right now.
“It can’t be.” Blacktail gazed around seeing more and more of the white, fluffy filling. “We have landed on Plush Island.” He slapped the railing with a gruff laugh, “Ah ha, Plush Island!”
“What does that mean exactly?” Yudan finally stood on her own took a step away from the raven but seeing his eyes at Ankor she nudged him gently but saw him cross his arms.
Doziai smirked lightly, “It means we are going to get a lot of treasure and likely to be mauled by giant stuffed animals.”
With wide eyes and shocked faces, Yudan, Longshot, and Alexander exclaimed, “WHAT?!”
