Nov 11, 2042- Day 52
Ran into a coworker earlier today when going to the store to run some errands. I know Chris takes care of most things and I’m still extremely awkward in social society but I’ll go stir-crazy if I’m not allowed to at least do some things that are useful. So occasionally he’ll give me something to go and pick up from the nearby town. Can’t really walk upright that long without back pain so I have to walk around with a walker like I’m some old cripple, but as humiliating as it is, it is still a bit less degrading than walking on all fours all the time.
Also the walker makes it much easier for me to do these errands given the current status of my hands. Can’t really do too much with them anymore so anything complex is difficult. And there’d be no way that I could carry much all the way back, but things like picking up a package from a store and putting it in the little basket on the walker I can do.
But yeah, ran into a coworker. And they didn’t even acknowledge my existence. Or rather, me waving to them made immediately move to the other side of the road. They didn’t seem to have any sense of recognition that I could tell. Couldn’t even hear anything from them regarding recognizing me afterwards. It was kind of disheartening. I mean, I know we weren’t close, but am I that far gone that someone I worked with for a few years wouldn’t even recognize me anymore. As nice as Dave was before, would he still be friendly if he saw me now?
