It is a known fact that androids choose a moniker surname for themselves after a learned trait or belief of their pique but these guys can't even talk, let alone like anything.
Daesik Lier, the creator and builder of all the Generations' test models, outdid himself with this design. The Hunters were the answer to the quest to find the perfect Military droid.
Hunters are modelled after housecats (more accurately, big cats). Originally they were used as expensive paperweights because Travis refused to program something this dangerous within a facility where the human employees lived, worked, and slept. Eventually, testing was moved to an outer source, and the Hunters were programmed with a basic understanding of mayhem, chaos-creating, and destruction. Such machines were a bane on the company and Daesik immediately wanted to recall the need for such force, but the Military would not have it. Hunters haven't a true understanding of cause and effect, virtually no learned intelligence, and their strength does not compete with Lewd's but physically, they are a challenge to locate and hunt down. They are powerful adversaries, given that their A.I. is located abdominally, not within the skull-like cranium. Their heads can be cut off, and they would still be able to function. Have it be noted that Hunters can climb walls and their jaws have the crushing strength of a head-on car accident.
Their basic sense of self is nothing but a walking mechanical killer. They know nothing but the orders they are given, and would readily run themselves off a cliff if ordered to do so.
To combat the negative light shed on Universal Robotics, Daesik recreated the Hunters into a more mannered, gentle-giant mechanical device. These new Hunters (the name stuck unfortunately) were built in a facility-watched pair. They were programmed with a housecat's reactions and habits, making for two Hunters that act like big felines rather than machines that tear anything that moves apart. These Hunters enjoy getting head-scritches, chin-scritches, and they are enthralled by lazer pointers.
The two Hunters within the facility have yet to be named and engendered, though it is assumed that one has a sense of being masculine, and the other is feminine.
If you suggest a cool enough name, I shall commit it to memory and relabel the Hunters with their proper monikers.
