Some busy little twerp has 'corrected' the spelling of ƒoul.

"Soul" actually was spelled "soal" every so often. Looks to me like the carver "fixed " it, but I'm not sure which spelling he thought was correct.

Random fact: The Soule family's surname was sometimes spelled in the probates as "Soal" or "Saul".
