Silver Linings: Slench (Archan Industries Model)
The galaxy is no stranger to robots. In the past, they were generally crude and expensive to not only manufacture but also field in place of workers. As the Teknol empire expanded though, taking civilizations and their resources into its fold, the then burgeoning Archan industries began to develop a robot meant to be cheap but functional and more than capable of fulfilling roles meant for workers. This simple robot would be eventually come to be known as the Slench.
The Slench's popularity was compounded by both its low cost (the equivalent of $3,000 today), its ease of use, and its surprising durability. Able to download skill suites of varying degrees, from simple janitorial duties to combat functionality, the explosion of Slenches across the galaxy made the name synonymous with robotic units, leading to a loss of copyright on the name by Archan and rival industries now marketing their own automatons as Slenches as well, though usually with varying titles slapped on to make their own model distinct.
While nowadays one needs a special license to purchase and use them, that hasn't stopped the versatile Slench from finding itself used in less than legal activities. From pirates to unsanctioned research labs, Slenches can be found in all corners of the galaxy, ready to fulfil whatever order is desired of them with no hesitation.

Much like Star Wars has droids, I wanted to come up with something to call the many robotic entities populating the silver Linings universe beyond just robots.
But of course, there's only so many terms you can use. Synths, automatons, etc. I wanted to figure something out that was catch.
Was around this point I decided that instead of trying to come up with a name that related to the robots themselves, what if instead there was a company that manufactured a large majority of the robots present in the galaxy, their name for the robot becoming so tied to robots themselves that it became sort of the name for them.
And thus, the Slench was born.
I mention Archan industries a lot in my stories. They were originally a simple tech company in an old old canon of mine, mentioned only once, and I decided to bring them back. Now the premier human empire arms manufacturer. What else do they make? Well I hope I get the chance to show you all.
Silver Linings and associated concepts belong to me.
