Chicken Leg Bizarrian, Steed of Champions
My favorite creature from the original Golden Axe. It's a bigger and rideable version of the Chicken Stinger from Altered Beast. I originally drew this by hand with a .7mm mechanical pencil (loaded w/2HB-grade graphite which was always muh fave) on sketch paper back in 2008. Don't know why it took me 13 years to color it. It's also called a cockatrice, though it differs from the mythological version. The term "bizarrian" refers to all the steed-type creatures you can ride in Golden Axe. They can also be ridden by enemies. They have no allegiance except to their rider. All the other ones are dragon-like creatures. There are at least two types of dragon ones if I recall.
Update: Removed two crease lines from tail and added a second yellow ring.

I don't think I ever beat it. Always played as Gilius Thunderhead. The "Chicken Leg" was muh fave Bizarrian steed just because of how unique it is. Did you ever play Altered Beast? A smaller cousin of the Chicken Leg appears in that game as the "Chicken Stinger."
Rastan Saga didn't have Chicken Legs or Chicken Stingers in it, but it had that classic dark fantasy vibe indicative of the era (no doubt inspired by Conan).
Rastan Saga = Conan (the early '80s movies). Altered Beast = Clash of the Titans (1981) + The Beastmaster. Golden Axe = Conan, The Beastmaster, Tolkien, and D&D all rolled into one.

No, but they're two of muh faves. The Chicken Stinger and/or "Chicken Leg" is a creature that showed up in Altered Beast as an enemy monster (Chicken Stinger) and in Golden Axe as a steed you could ride (Chicken Leg), but could also be ridden by enemies. Its only loyalty was to whoever was riding it at the time. I based this one on the Chicken Leg from Golden Axe (hence the saddle) and gave it a friendly expression, so we can assume it was raised differently than the ones in-game. More of a pet, less of a combat steed.
As for Bakshi, I don't care for his preachy politics, but I've always loved his style. Same for George Romero. Speaking of preachy politics, I used to watch Captain Planet when I was a preteen in the early '90s with a mullet, and I always rooted for the villains. };3 Dr. Blight was muh fave. If Underfell characters cosplayed as Captain Planet characters, Alphys and Mettaton could totally be Dr. Blight and MAL. >w<
