Dated 2007-2008, dunno
Sketch for mother's day or mom's birthday card, the final was separate drawing done solely inked without underlying sketch. Don't have the inked version, but I guess I could ask mom if she still has it somewhere.
Both critters were drawn without any refs and without really trying to match any known species (looked for stork pics just now and the bill is way off).

e-W01F did a coloration of this (and quite a bit more), you can see it here.

Hehe, I guess that is a lovely ability to create holiday cards for people of your family and friends! ^^ I would have never dared, even though I venture a little in drawing (no representation as of now on my account, but nevertheless), to present someone whose opinion really matters for me with a hand-made... anything *^^* I guess I'm too timid for that.
And I actually like your version of a stork! The differing beak makes him so much more grave and serious looking than the "normal" one! :) The idea and composition are also lovely, I wonder how have you got and idea to perch the stork on the little piglet's head? :P Yes, and the "piglet" is surely discernible too, I wouldn't have named another creature if I was asked, although you say you didn't aim for any particular species.
And you surely have inspired e-w01f for a very nice coloring/rendition of it!

Firstly, thanks for the comment :3
>> how have you got and idea to perch the stork on the little piglet's head?
Random.

Well, aiming for something and trying to match it are slightly different things for me. I can think of a pig, draw a pig, but without having seen one in ages hardly make very accurate pig. Well, pigs I have seen occasionally, but not storks, just had a vague memory of a stork-like bird (whatever the waders are called) and drew something based on that. And then if I try to match it with it, I think of or find some thing I want to draw, find sufficient references so I can draw everything visible and in a pose that makes sense, and work from there. I guess I was too unspecific with it >_>;;

He demanded I color my works myself, but since I refused he decided to do it himself. I dunno where the inspiration in that is <_<;;

My pleasure! *^^*
I see what you mean about the difference between aiming for the depiction of something and exactly matching that something! The only thing I would love to add is that sometimes, the exact matching may be detrimental to the drawing's idea or feel, or spontaneity. So it's a fine balance, and for certain cases, the vague idea of some, for example, species is more appealing than a true to reality representation.
And as for the inspiration, well, at the very least you are the creator of the original sketch to be colored! :) And your adamant refusal can be, although in a non-conventional way, a source of inspiration in itself: when met with the inability to acquire something through other means, we sometimes get to gather the will to do it otherwise. Or (as I would guess for this particular case), we just enjoy the ability to do something on someone's lead, not having the need to plan and invent what we are creating and just to take joy from the process ^^
