Having got my thoughts about the art in order, I did a final drawing, using some stock photos from online. Next I made a few changes and began to add some digital half-tones. I briefly considered full colour, but the fanzine couldn't reproduce full colour anyway, so why put myself to the extra trouble? On the whole I'm happy with the result, but it's not the sort of drawing I want to make a habit of doing. (The item leaning against the lily is a convention name tag, if you have never attended a convention.)

Had to look at a few moments till I recognized it as a name badge pouch with the safety-pin clip. Of the roughly 45 conbadges I have, only one or two are like that, another dozen split between the lanyard-passed-through-pouch style and spring clip-on-pouch, another 2 or 3 are lanyard to spring clip holding a plastic badge pouch, and the rest are credit-card sized badges with a spring clip/snap loop passed through a slot.
I should find a better way to display the lot (eyes the unused dry-cleaner's wire hangers)

At one time, there were only the cheap, fold-over/pin on the back type name tags, even for huge, important conventions for CEOS. But over the last 20 or so years, self-importance has replaced almost all the old fashioned kind of tags. I chose to go with the old fashioned type since most of the readers of the fanzine would be old fashioned types themselves.
