‘Uhn,… let go of me you rock-brained mud ball!!!’
“So as if the villains and the natural perils,… mostly quicksand,… on the island weren’t bad enough, there are things that kind of fall halfway between them. They are known as ‘Muck Beasts’ and there are few different kinds, they are creatures of living mud, quicksand and muck, not unlike Smuther, but they are more animal-like in mind and nature.
This big guy here is one of the ‘Mud Gators’, the name says it all, big alligator-like creatures made of living mud. They lurk in the swampy regions of the island just north of the Central Basin, laying dormant amidst the mud flats and bogs, appearing like the normal mud all around them, until they feel something disturb the swamp, then they swim quickly to the source and form up right underneath it, trying to catch it in their muddy jaws and swallow it down, just like this one is trying to do to me, so you have to stay alert in the swamps, subtle ripples in the mud being the only warning you might get.
They are tough beasts to fight off, but thankfully, being made of mud, their ‘teeth’ and ‘claws’ are not hard or sharp, just all goopy,… but being all soft and goopy makes it hard to hurt them. Like Smuther, if you lead them away from a source of moisture they will dry out and crumble, but unlike Smuther they have a natural instinct to avoid that, they know to stay safely in their mud bogs, so if you can get away from them, they won’t follow you out of the swamps. Of course,… getting out of their jaws once they surprise you, and getting away, can easier said than done,… The best way to deal with these things is to stay out of their territory, which I try my best to do.
I’m not sure how many of these things there are, I’ve never seen more than one or two at a time. I think they are very territorial, each one kind of claiming a portion of the swamp, that the others stay out of, which spreads them out. So you can easily go through the swamps without having to deal with any,… but the moment you forget to keep an eye out for them, one shows up right under you.
But for now,… Uhn,.. give me a few minutes to deal with this guy.”
From the incredible
toughset comes the latest troublesome peril for Ember, the fearsome Mud Gator,… as if normal quicksand wasn’t bad enough, now the stuff is getting aggressive. ;).
I love how fierce this picture is, you get such a great sense of tension, movement and action, from Ember’s long hair swaying to the side, to the mud splash as the gator forms up from the swamp below. Toughset did amazing work with the design of the Mud Gator, the sleekness of its body, all the little mucky details, like the ridges on its back, and the teeth, it certainly gives a feeling of strength from its size and bulk, yet you also get a sense that this beast could easily lurk unseen in a mud puddle, until it decides to form up right below its unsuspecting target. Ember certainly does not look happy to find herself in the mouth of this beast, her expression, a mix of anger and surprise, really speaks volumes, as does her defiantly trying to push those jaws open, while the positioning of her thigh gives the feeling of her squirming, as her legs are sinking down into the gullet of this mucky beast. Truly an amazing action shot, to introduce and truly impressive looking foe for Ember and the denizens of Nightshade Island.
What do you think? :D.

Just when we think Ember doesn't have it tough enough dealing with all of the adversaries she runs into on Nightshade Island, these formidable '"Muck Beasts" come around to give a bit more of a hard time for our Guardian ;). Really creative when it comes to these kind of creatures, never would've expected them. Great job :D. And Toughset really made them come to life with their style :), and a really amazing pic they did here :D. But from the looks of things, Ember will have quite some trouble with these creatures ;)
Oh, indeed, there's always more dangers lurking on the island than one thinks, and no doubt these will be quite troublesome for her. ;). Glad you think so, thank you. :). He really did marvelous work bringing it to life. Heh, yeah, this one will be troublesome, definitely. ;)
Holy moly! This art is pure amazing! It’s so good and it really shows a lot to since it clearly shows Ember’s annoyance and surprise as well as anger with having to deal with a mud gator while she likely just wanted a easy day without any quicksand, villains or any danger but that’s not gonna happen thanks to the mud gator suddenly appearing but seriously this is pure amazing! Also heh it kinda seems like Ember needs help with getting away or free from the mud gator and I kinda feel like that if a oc of mine who has some stuff in common with Ember was passing by, she could likely help Ember get free from the mud gator since even tho my oc doesn’t have them on her island she still knows how to deal with this stuff somehow which is likely because the oc I’m talking about explores other islands a lot and might’ve had a run in with one of these things or something similar to them and heh who knows really, maybe the oc I’m talking about is exploring Nightshade Island since they do like to explore other islands they find and if they are maybe they’ll find Ember and be able to help her, sorry if the oc thing was weird and this is definitely great art.
I'm glad you like it, I really think it came out great, and yeah Ember's expression of surprise and annoyance with this situation is very well depicted, certainly she wasn't expecting it, and it does look great, I'm glad you like it. :)
Yeah, no offense, but every time you comment you mention your OC and how they could help and solve the problem easily, I'm sorry, but it is getting weird.

Okay also yea, it is really good and definitely pretty well made and all and if is definitely does show that Ember wasn’t expecting this but she’s definitely annoyed by the mud gator since she likely didn’t want to deal with it since she already has enough stuff that likely stresses her out aka the quicksand and villains also don’t worry, no offence was taken and I understand that it’s weird so I’ll stop.
A curious concept and marvelous adventure as well! The only thing I wonder is why these creatures are so striving to eat their victims? Is it just magic that makes them mimic real living predators despite they can't (don't need) nutrition or they DO absorb extra biomass to expand their own?
Glad you like it. :) Hmm,... good questions, though Ember herself wouldn't know the answers to them,... my overall thoughts are that perhaps they are mimicking the real creatures instinctually, but ultimately they are just animated mud pits, so they don't actually 'digest' the things they engulf, if that makes sense?
Ember already has to deal with quicksand and normal Alligators in the swamps of the jungle, now there's a combination as well she has to deal with, still a great shot of her though, pretty sure there's some enemies in games that once you stand on something it comes up underneath you, defiantly not too fun for Ember here.
Also, totally no vore bias from me. *I say as I give this a Emerald award on DA.*

Each on their own is bad enough, but combining them is so much worse for her, and I'm glad you like it, yeah, I have seen enemies like that in games, and definitely not amusing for Ember. ;).
Hehe, no, of course no bias. ;). *Ooohs at the shiny emerald* (Thank you very much for that :). )
