Playing around with colors, textures n' shit!
Anyway, I once did very detailed, in-depth character analysis of my characters that I keep around for personal reference sake (I haven't posted them because they're ridiculously long). At one point in Edgar's I mentioned that Edgar has a definite desire for luxury. And so I illustrated because, again, bored in class and wanted to do kind of a character study of a certain aspect of the character. Also, play around with coloring schemes and textures and such.
Also, I don't know why he has whiskers in the thought bubble., I just kind of wanted to see how they would look.

Step back and take another look at this piece. You managed to also capture an experiment in contrasts. You not only have a contrast inside the character, but in styles. You have both juxtaposed Edgar's thoughts and reality; but also the mood and style of in-scene reality and fantasy.
I like it. And thanks for sharing!
