Maybe because spread eagles and arms raised while bound make the captive appear bigger and upright. Hands on the back makes the captive bend forward a little and thus he appears smaller

Is this the first time you've done talbain?

Yes indeed. I wanted to draw him for a long time now^^

I imagine that we've just caught Jon Talbain shortly into his imprisonment, maybe a few moments after he's perhaps awoken upon finding himself restrained. At the moment he's just reacting instinctively with the inner wolf, enraged and thrashing out against the restraint of the chains which might well have various enchantments and silver incorporated into them.

After a short while once he's found himself unable to break free and just tiring himself in his rage I think we'd see him regaining his focus, probably meditating as he calls on all the training he's gone through over the years to gain control over his inner wolf. We might then see him in more of a spirit of quiet defiance, still with some of that rage burning within but not wanting to waste any more of his strength in thrashing around.

Though another take I could imagine is he's been captive for quite a while when rescue has finally arrived in the form of Felicia, though rather than hurrying immediately to get him free from the chain she's gotten a mischievous look in her eyes. Jon Talbain is just giving her a firm warning not to even dare trying to tickle him.

Mostly a loner with an admittedly gruff demeanour, Jon Talbain was however rather fond of children and happy enough to be persuaded by his friend Felicia to participate in the Halloween festivities. The game of Werewolf Tag, where he'd be chasing the children and the longer, they managed to evade him without being tagged the more candy they received with the last to be caught receiving a plushy.

The Maze game was fun as well, making use of his natural tracking abilities and seeing if he could hunt down the children before they reached the centre of the maze with those he caught being 'devoured' which was really just getting hugged and nuzzled.

The grand finale was the arena match, a chance to show off some of his acrobatics and moves with a little friendly sparring with Felicia before the grand melee. That was really just some roughhousing before after a few minutes he took a fall and was subdued by massive amounts of belly rubs and chin scritches, floofing of his mane and the inevitable tickles.

After his defeat it was down to the dungeon, where he allowed himself to be gagged and chained up before the children made their way home. Afterwards he was prepared to admit that he did have fun, though he was certainly not a big softy as Felicia suggested and she certainly shouldn't dare get any ideas about tickling him.

His display of snarling and growling at least got Felicia to admit that yes, he was a very fierce wolf and yes, she'd untie him now and wouldn't try any mischief.
