I spent a lot of time asking about blacksmithing for this chapter, specifically for coating a blade in gold. It was a long and painful process, but it was well worth it, because I wanted to put as much emphasis on the importance of this blade as possible. And I wanted to try out work process details versus "he crafted an idol" or "he built a hen house" if you know what I mean.
He's supposed to come from a society where smiths are practically revered, like dwarves of other books. (Gotta love the dwarf in this book. He's perfectly steriotypical.)
