Citra could feel the fury of the dragon around her, swirling like fallen leaves in the wind. She could also hear a faint rasping of scales from time to time, and could smell smoke and brimstone as if it were very far away. It was oppressive, and more than a little intimidating for the kobold as she traveled. Citra hadn't so much summoned the spirit of the long-dead dragon as encountered it, a soul full of fury and power but at the same time impotent and unable to do anything. As a shaman, Citra felt like part of her job was to put souls who refused to move on to rest, and wanted to help this dragon spirit. But this dragon wanted revenge for a betrayal long ago, and refused to rest until it had found retribution. So Citra decided to help. She hoped that even if the person in question has long since died, perhaps she could find some way settle the matter another way.
Either way, channeling the power of the dragon through her was like nothing else she ever experienced. It was almost intoxicating, and she could see the temptation of the quiet whispers of the spirit, suggestions oflending just a biiiit more power to it, what the two of them could do. But Citra knew enough about summoning to see the danger. Summoning was like fishing, but using your soul as the lure. When she summoned something, it was like pulling up a fish, and dismissing it was like throwing the fish back into the water. Offering too much would allow the spirit to seize control, leading to eventual possession and potentially the spirit wholly reforming among the living in all its former glory.
No, Citra would stick to putting the spirits of dragons to rest however she can. That was hard enough already, and she had no desire for power.
