Based on the fantastic monster from the book 'The Relic.' This is Mbwun, the Kothoga tribe's beast of vengeance. In the movie, which is entertaining in it's own right, the monster is simply called 'Kothoga.'
I highly recommend the book over the movie, and this interpretation is based on the written description of a primarily reptilian/primate hybrid.

Love the film, all shot at the Museum of Natural History in Chicago.

Woot!! I may go watch it for the fiftieth time :D
It was my favorite monster movie for yeeeears, til I found the book and realized how different it was. (NYC, not Chicago), and they changed so many characters and names.
I still loves it, though. (But the book is better)

Im dreading to see the changes in "Let the Right One In" vrs "Let Me IN" Though thats comparing two movies, but still. Ya. Source material.
Books to film.. Hrmm. I like both versions of the Shining, Kubricks for its fucked-up-ness surrealism and the two part TV mini series that was actually very faithful to the book.
I really wish they would follow books a little more closely. I hate it when they market to the lowest common denominator and end up making something so low grade its boring and unfulfilling (why is that word showing as spelled incorrectly?). Stupid people shouldn't be allowed in anything but Jerry Brookheimer films. :P
