Both players had so few life points that the next successful attack will decide the match. Tommy stood tall against his opponent as all fear slipped away from his mind. His two Dragoons stood beside him and now his great Dragon hovered over him like a guardian angel ready to strike down all who oppose him. All the kids watching looked dumbstruck, all of them were captivated by the legendary Blue-Eyes waiting for its orders.
“Blue eyes, attack his facedown monster,” glancing back at his beast, the Dragon opened its mouth and fired a fantastic beam of light, decimating the monster. Only one monster left, let’s keep this up. “I also play a facedown card, ending my turn,”
The Cat draws, and grumbles in frustration. “I set a monster in defense mode, ending my turn,”
Tommy draws. “I set another card and attack your remaining Golem Sentry, your move,”
The Cat goes again. “Another facedown monster,”
Tommy’s turn, nothing that could help him. They were in a stalemate, neither of them could gain any ground and it was a matter of time before either of them makes a big play. The Rabbit however noticed that his opponent was staring at the card in his hand. What could it be? the anticipation was killing him. “Blue-Eyes will attack your monster,”
His Dragon attacks and another monster unceremoniously goes to the grave. The Cat draws. “I play the spell card Pot of Greed, letting me draw two cards,” he adds to his hand, and a look of pure malice crawls its way over his face. “This is it, dweeb, your end. First, I flip over my Armed Ninja,” the card turns up to release a ninja with black robes and a scythe. “Which then destroys any spell in play, getting rid of your Flawless Perfection field spell,” the shrine disappeared, allowing the real world to be seen. “Next, I have two Gilasuarus’ I can choose to special summon them, then you get to special summon from your grave for each one. So go ahead, summon your monsters,” two small dinosaurs appeared beside the ninja. None of them looked threatening when compared to Tommy’s Dragon.
Tommy looked at his grave, this is a trick of sorts, he wouldn’t give him this if he didn’t think he could pull it off. “Okay, I’ll choose my Alexandrite Dragon and Genewarped Werewolf in defense mode,” both monsters appeared before him, ready to protect him.
“Now, I sacrifice all three monsters to summon my supreme creature of destruction,” his three monsters vanish. And a gargantuan creature rose from the earth. It was made of stone with fists like massive hammers and a pair of wings held it aloft. It was the biggest monster Tommy had ever seen; its sheer size enveloped the park “4000 attack 4000 defense”. “I summon Obelisk the Tormentor!” a few gasps came from the kids watching.
Tommy stared in disbelief at the giant glaring down at him, waiting to crush him.
“Crush his Dragon,”
Obelisk holds up a giant fist, bringing it down on his Blue-Eyes. Tommy Activated his trap. “I play Wabaku, my monsters cannot be destroyed this turn, nor can I take damage this turn,” a clear barrier formed around his monsters and Obelisk’s attack glanced right off it. It might have been nerves, but he could swear he felt the impact.
The Cat just shrugged. “Your move,”
Tommy draws, a Silent Doom spell card, that won’t work. “I switch my Blue-Eyes to defense mode, ending my turn,”
The Cat was stone cold, only thinking of victory. “I’ll tell you what, I’ll save your big Dragon for last. Obelisk, destroy his Wolf,”
Obelisk again attacks and Tommy uses another trap. “Negate attack, it stops your monster,”
“Too bad, my monster cannot be targeted by cards, it doesn’t work,” to Tommy’s surprise, Obelisk continues its attack and destroys his Wolf. The ground shaking from the blow was almost real, at least to him it was real.
Not good, Tommy thought. The Rabbit drew nothing and ended his turn, only to watch his Alexandrite Dragon be shattered next.
“Come on little Rabbit, can you at least give me a challenge?” the Cat mocked.
Tommy draws, and nothing, there was nothing that could save him from that monster. Next turn, he will lose his last defense and he will be at the mercy of that demon. The Rabbit looked and looked at all his options, his hand and his grave. The only place he couldn’t look was the Cat, even though he knew that made him look pitiful. The Cat just laughed at him. But then, Tommy noticed something he missed, he has an extra deck. Glancing through it, he wondered if there was something he could actually summon. And it caught his eye, a monster, a game changer, one he could’ve summoned long ago.
With outmost confidence, he looks right at his opponent. “I play Silent Doom to summon a normal monster from the grave, and I summon the Hieratic Dragon of the Sun,” the large sphere appeared before him “0 attack 0 defense”
“And what do you intend to do with that? Let me overkill you?”
Tommy paid no heed to his insults. “I overlay my Blue-Eyes and my Hieratic,” the two cards stacked themselves on top of one another as the two monsters melded together. “Two normal level 8 monsters are the requirement. And now I XYZ summon, the Thunder End Dragon!” a giant, black dragon emerged from the melded monsters “3000 attack 2500 defense”.
“That’s still useless,”
The Rabbit continued. “By detaching one material from it,” the Blue-Eye’s was removed from underneath the Dragon and sent to the grave. “My monster destroys all other monsters in play,”
The Cat went white with shock. “No!”
Tommy’s Dragon reared back its head, opened its mouth and unleashed a thunderstorm upon the field, Obelisk was no more, and there was nothing protecting the Cat now. “Thunder End Dragon, finish him!”
Tommy’s Dragon fired a lightning bolt right at the Cat and his life points hit zero. With the duel now over, all the holograms vanished. There was something powerful in the moment, not just because he won, but because he rose to the challenge. Standing with the Ape at his side, Tommy stared at the Cat, wondering what he’ll do.
The Cat glared at the Rabbit. “No, no, no. You cheated!”
“You’re a poor sport,” Tommy countered.
“Oh yeah?”
The Cat came at him, feet stomping, fists at the ready, he was eager to pound him into dust.
The Ape stepped between them and the Cat stopped. “Stand aside Ape!” he glared, and the Ape refused to budge. Soon the Cat stormed off, unwilling to fight an adult.
As soon as he was out of sight, all the kids started cheering for Tommy.
“Hey, teach me to play?” a young Rabbit asked.
Tommy smiled. “Sure, little guy,”
