(the above picture is a shot of a male Crystal Serpent)
Name: Crystal Serpent (Draco Cavernous)
Classification: in the dragon family
Size:
Length: Males, 48 ft Females, 37 ft
Height: males, 8 ft Females, 6 ft
Habitat.
Normally found dwelling in open caverns where gems and crystals are plentiful and there is a fresh supply of an underwater spring nearby.
Diet: Lichen, minerals and is sometime known to eat crystals or gems.
Colorations: males generally have brighter colors (reds, blues, pinks) while females have darker colors (pink, green, yellow) coloration varies with their environment due to the minerals it is nearby much like how crystals get their color. Some rarer colors like white have rarely been reported but have been seen.
Appearance: has a long serpent-like body with feathers on its head, the male cavern dragons feathers are larger than females because they will use them when courting a female. The feathers also have rounded crystals on some. Rounded crystals (color depending on minerals) travel down the side of the serpents body (both on male and female) there are crystals running down half of its back and on its tail. They have long had scales which help them travel across the often slippery rocks. They have to large wings which help them glide across large caverns, there front legs help with landing, eating, and grasping onto rocks.
Sound: ranges from a high chirp to a low growl have been reported but they generally make no sounds and communicate with body language.
Family: they generally lay two eggs and travel in groups of three or four.
Biography: the Cave Serpent has no enemies due to it being in caves. Humans rarely see them but it has been reported that by far the are the most graceful creatures ever seen. They have a nice temperament and you can even walk up to a wild Cave Serpent and pet it. The colors and beauty of the creatures are just amazing, especially when light catches the scales and sends beacons of colors across the cave walls. When threatened they will puff up the feathers on their head but they rarely have too. They will glide through the air with such grace and elegance that you sometimes get lost watching them, and almost fall of what you are walking on. They drink from underwater streams or lakes and will sometimes even go fishing if there are any cave fish in the water. They do not go blind due to cave darkness because the crystal caverns they stay in illuminate a glow enough that they can see. Hopefully if you take a trip to a crystal cavern you will be able to capture the beauty and pure stunning-ness of this jaw dropping creature on camera or video.
