“Damn,” Toni whistled, “You’re really not lying.”
“Nope.” Luc stood awkwardly to her full height, close on nine feet, wings and tail unconsciously curling close, defensive. The clothes were a new feeling- Toni had done well to use her measurements to lengthen a bikini top as a makeshift bra, and combined with her biggest T-shirt it actually covered most of her, while the sweatpants now boasted stylish cords to help keep them together and contain her protruding fuzzy thighs. It was all in all an odd feeling to have her thick fluff rub against fabric, though a smile did cross her snout- she felt more like a person. “You believe me right?”
“Dude, I’ve taken twenty pics of you and you’re not in any of them,” The blue haired girl snorted, spinning her phone around from where she nested on the couch, “I mean- look, it’s not even floating clothes, that stuffs invisible to the camera too! That’s straight up supernatural!”
“As if a vamwolf wasn’t supernatural?”
“Could be a parasite or something biological, not all vampires are magical. You’re sure daylight burns you? No sparkles?”
“No- argh I should’ve picked that. There was a daywalker perk I skipped past,” The huge wolf groaned and trotted back over to slump on the floor, “I don’t even know when I can get a new perk… or… hey can you see how long a new VR set and Tales game would take?”
“Uh, sure, what for?” Toni clicked away at her screen, tiny fingers nimble and quick.
“To change me back- duh. Open up character creation, fix me.”
The geek raised an eyebrow in confusion, then tutted, “Uuuuh, well, main site says they sold out… reprints are gonna take like a month, then ubuy and other auctions from the skimmers… running like three grand.”
“THREE THOUSAND!?” Luc roared, hackles raised.
Toni recoiled instantly, diving back off the sofa with another click, as the vamwolf winced, “Wait- sorry, sorry, Toni. I’m me.”
Blue hair and eyes peered over the chair, keeping a wary distance, “You sure? ...Yikes, don’t do that, really really spooked me.”
“I’m that scary?”
Toni hesitated, then shook her head, “No- honestly you’re a bombshell Luc, don’t do puppy dog eyes, that’s… just weird. But you’re not that scary, it was just… you managed to jump scare me…. But yeah, skimmers buy a ton for super high prices, you’d be better off getting a new copy. Or asking around if anyone local’s got one?”
“No can do. Headset’s keyed to a person- bogus sales tactic, but you can’t use a headset coodinated for someone with a different body type and…. I don’t think there’s anyone I could pass as,” She shifted, folded her arms over her chest, “Still… urgh that’s like a month to live as this!”
“Ooooh no.” Toni murmured snidely. Then, disappointed at the lack of retort, inched closer and knelt to wrap an an arm around a portion of her shoulders. “Hey, chin up girl, I can help a bit- managed to get clothes over those, so nothing’s impossible right?”
A fluffy tail and velvety wing reached out in turn to slightly squeeze the woman. “Yeah. Yeah. I can figure it out. Just… got to get the money somehow.”
Thus ends this little Toni chapter!
Clothes secured!
Now, change of pace slightly, here is a new vote. Just enter one of the two options in the comments below and I’ll count them and start that plot thread in a couple of days.
How should Luc handle her finances:
Seek out a new night job fitting her new self
