The Spirit of Christmas - Christmas Present
Second in the lineup for this month's YCH, where I decided to draw inspiration from one of my favorite movies to watch this time of year, A Christmas Carol (I'm partial to the Jim Carrey version), and illustrate the three ghosts that visit Scrooge.
Here we have the Ghost of Christmas Present, the embodiment of generosity, goodwill and celebration. She wears a fur-trimmed green robe and a crown made of holly and icicles, reminding me most of a traditional Pagan Yule diety and probably why this one's my favorite. She carries a torch in one hand and wears an empty scabbard on her belt, symbols of warmth in the desolate cold of winter and peace respectively (at least, that's how I see them). Two children called Ignorance and Want hide under her robes (or little creatures that hide in the sleeve for purposes of this piece), warning us to be thankful for what we have and to give generously to those who do not.
These will of course be my own interpretations of what is described in the story, to best fit with my style and theme. :)

Oh my gosh, this is incredible! As a huge fan of A Christmas Carol (I do not hesitate to say it made me a better person) your interpretation captures the character's description so well. And, of course, the technical skill and artistry is wonderful. I am in awe of this work.
