**PLEASE READ!**We’re nearing the end of Volume One of Oren’s Forge, but the story isn’t over yet!
The full first volume is 197 pages. After page 197, I will post a short 2-page epilogue setting up the next volume, which picks up right where this one leaves off.

Oren's Forge usually updates once a week on Monday, skipping a week here and there.
TwitterWhen animals considered to be "prey" by the apex predators of the world begin to band together for safety, where does it leave those caught in between?
Namely, a pair of pine martens, carnivores and flesh-eaters themselves, but small enough to be considered food for the bears, wolves and gluttons of the forest and field. They're on a journey to seek sanctuary with the rabbits, squirrels and other prey that have gathered to Oren--but they don't know if welcome or condemnation will meet them.

Yes, from the context, it is some kind of painting so they can stamp their pawprints as well. It seems that stamping their footprints together with the other animals is the symbol that they are fully accepted in the group, unlike while Hemlock was protecting them ( Egg's presence was barely tolerated and she lived apart from the group). I think this is the highest honor Oren can grant them.

I am really concerned that Hemlock doesn't exactly share Oren's view's here.
Me think's that she's waiting for Oren to seriously screw up and when that happen's she'll come back and take everything from him.
If such a thing were to happen I believe it'd be a death sentence for Rask & Egg.
