This was originally just a quickly scribbled sketch to get the general feel and lighting direction down. Wound up keeping it as-is when I remembered drawing grass and bamboo isn't fun, and I didn't want it to wind up being yet another picture I frustratingly spend months on. It's a lot rougher than I'm used to doing for a "completed" piece, and not doing any lineart like I usually do probably is adding to that feeling for me, but it'll do for now.
Slowly learning a little bit of 3D to help with pictures like this, actually. I made the gate in Blender to help a bit with perspective. since that's something I struggle a lot with. If I get a computer that can handle it, I might try my hand at character models, but for now I'm just sticking to simpler "props" to help make sense of my backgrounds.
