Come Christmastide, everyone's full of good cheer,
fond gatherings with friends serving food, wine and beer.
No expense is too great when it comes to a holiday dinner,
and with cold months ahead, who'd want to grow thinner?
Faisan carries himself with such genial comport,
he's welcomed in with a, "Good to see you, old Sport!"
So pleasant a pheasant, he's always invited,
for to see him grow rounder, his hosts are delighted.
There's puddings, and sausages, cheese to fill every tray,
brie with honey, herbs and pears, an enormous buffet.
Potatoes au gratin, pull-apart cinnamon bread,
it goes without saying, no one's left underfed.
Garam masala rib roast with pistachio crust,
"Try the parsnip confit, it's delicious, you must!"
Mashed potatoes a-plenty topped with a crispety crunch,
the pheasant stuffs himself like you'd swear he'd missed lunch.
Holiday ham with sweet Riesling and mustard,
Then dessert, Christmas pudding with vanilla-bean custard.
Until out through the door, with a grunt and a squeeze,
our pheasant waddles home, just as fat as you please.
