I've always thought it'd be fun to draw Berdly as a mage! Kinda like Ralsei, but maybe dressed in blue, and his lil pixel duck face emblem over his chest instead'a Ralsei's heart. Still got the cute mage hat and Ralsei's magenta scarf! Could be for an AU where instead of a cute fluffy boy, you have a feathery boy! Maybe he'd be nicer? Or still his obnoxious self a bit? I dunno but it's fun to think of and he sure looks cute. :3

I'm actually surprised he is not a mage within the game. His character, particularly being in a state of feeling he must be the smartest of the smarties, would excel in showing off what they can do with his knowledge of crafting spells. He could even use magic towards his ongoing defense of Noel...
...Then again, in thinking more on his character, perhaps a mage would be reinforcing something he is not comfortable with feeling obligated to IRL?
I certainly can appreciate a smarty no pants desiring to want to avoid real life stressers when they are able to be something different in 'The Dark'. (This could also explain how he comes off like Falco. He is so determined to not be defined for his intelligence that his snarkiness reaches a new level as he keeps up his 'Epic gamer' personality while trying to redfine his worth in ways that are not quite natural for him.).
Personally, I know I never felt good about living up to 'standards'. My father really went hardcore in building this 'You Are Just Like Everyone Else' belief in me that, due to it not including supports for being okay with using tools to compensate for my poor vision, made me against doing and getting what I needed to do well in school. The next backfire was, for as long as I can remember, I was told that 'Employers want people with disabilities due to how they are the ones who go the extra mile and remain committed to the entity.'. It really hasn't been until the job I took in 2018 that I finally started to see that the "Just look at how I can go above and beyond!" was NOT what a company wanted and how the support to empower an individual with physical limitations is nominal, at best, given we are not expected to do much more than the bare minimum in order to help the employer meet their 'Minority Quota'.

Perhaps, as the game goes on, Berdly will opt into being a mage? It could be his truest path to heal his past and create his future. He'd give up the difficult act of being a smarty no pants hot shot IRL to being that Merlin / Gandalf to his friends while in 'The Dark'. However, unlike RL, his smarts would make him good at spellcasting and serve as a way to turn something that has, at present, brought him more pain and sorrow than the self-validation and respect he truly seeks to have.
