"Monsieur" Monty Hess (EclairsCollection Redesign)
A while ago I commissioned
eclairscollection to redesign a snake character I adopted from SnakeVoracious on twitter. You can see the original design here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/43962304/
I thought it'd be neat to have a noodle with clothes and I'm happy with the apparel designed for him. I also really like the geometric edge to his scale pattern. EC did some amazing work with this redesign.
Some bits of info that couldn't be fit into the sheet, or just general trivia about Hess:
+"Monsieur" is a nickname, as indicated by the quotation marks. I had trouble thinking of a name and just decided to make it a play on Sir Hiss. I fancy that this Hess would fancy himself as having some light French heritage despite never knowing for sure. I don't think he lives in France but he might have family who lives across the pond who could help him get there every once in a while.
+"Monsieur" would be a bit much to say all the time so he'd advise you to shorten it to M. Hess when on a first name basis with him unless he insists otherwise. "Mr. Hess" works too.
+Monty would be a good first name for Hess, so I'm going with that when he's on a first name basis with someone.
+Wild snake Hess has small smooth belly scales rather than the more pronounced scutes M. Hess has. When one slithers through dirt and foliage all the time it's much easier to clean up this way.
+I was always interested in having a character with alternate forms that are aware of each other and this is the culmination of that. Dreams felt like the best medium to have this mutual half-conscious awareness in. For that reason both Hesses are 24 years old because they live the full 24 hours a day. There's no age difference between them, they're both aged in human years.
+Not only do they share a mind but in some respects they share a body too, the mind is an extension on the body and vice versa after all. What this means for their dietary habits is, on the occasion the prey is strong and resilient enough and Hess eats too close to his bedtime, what goes in the mouth of one may come back out the mouth of the other. But some other times the prey isn't that strong and all that happens is one gets a free meal off the other by surprise. Either ways this only works in the transition between dreams.
