Name: Rouga Ba'Cho
Age: 22
Height: 5'7"
Class: Crescent Fang Monk
Likes: Not being a slave, seasoned chicken, spiced pulque (fermented agave sap), peaceful surroundings, blending into the background
Dislikes: Whips, chains, being trapped/restrained, seeing others be unreasonably restricted, being the center of attention, unnecessary killing (unless it's slavers)
I no longer have to hide him. ^_^
A martial artist of the Crescent Canyon Lupine tribe and son to the tribe's unarmed masters. At the beginning of his teen years the tribe, which had been steadily losing territory due to other races moving in on their land, was assaulted, enslaved, and separated from each other. Rouga was kept alive after fighting against his captors and killing a few of them, sold to a slave arena and forced to fight for his life alongside other members of subjugated races.
One of these was a female Tabaxi pugilist and former paladin squire named Arrys Kell, who became Rouga's only friend and source of comfort and compassion while enslaved for the next eight years. Eventually the two were involved in a mass escape attempt which soured when Arrys took an arrow to the leg; having made him promise to keep running no matter what happened, Rouga was forced to leave her behind to help the other slaves escape to safety, though he swore to return for her soon. His short-term plans are to get funding in any way (even if it means entering fighting matches), recruit people he can trust to help him, and hopefully launch a raid on the slavers to rescue Arrys; his long term plans are to find the whereabouts of his tribe, find a new place for them to live, and destroy the system of slavery and inequality throughout the realm.
With a childhood raised as a martial artist and years honing that skill fighting for his life, Rouga is a fierce user of the Crescent Fang style, a fast-hitting style that channels the elements into and through his body. He is fairly well-spoken when he does speak, but rarely goes out of his way to make discussion with complete strangers; he is a bit socially awkward, prefers not being touched in any way if it can be helped, and does not show any part of himself when he is in civilized areas (in these situations he keeps his arms, hands, feet, and head covered in long clothing). More often than not he expects the worst out of new people, and will reciprocate treatment from others be it good or ill. Though he doesn't actively look for trouble, if he is sufficiently drunk (which is often not enough to hamper his fighting ability) he will have no qualms telling other people exactly what he thinks of them.
Given his history of slavery, Rouga hates any form of imprisonment, flinching at the sound of a whip-crack or the clank of nearby shackles. In situations where he is restrained he lapses in concentration, showing clear signs of PTSD. This expands into an intense resentment towards any resriction of liberty, such as being bound into service or having an unbreakable obligation to others; in some cases, he has trouble seeing it as anything less than servitude to someone else.
