Chapter 1:
London, 1837.
Marley was dead to begin with. There was no doubt about that. Dead as a doornail. Jacob Marley, one of London´s most notorious people known for swindling the poor and cheating those out of their money was finally dead. The fat skunk was laying in his casket at the Undertaker´s office. His best partner, Ebenezer Scrooge, the crown-wearing fox, looked at his partner one last time before his casket was closed. He was given a paper labeled ¨Certificate of Death, Jacob Marley. (1786-1837)
Paid to Scrooge, the sum of 300 pounds.¨ The fox signed it, and he saw the horse-drawn hearse with the casket in it roll away forever. With a small limp in his legs, Scrooge walked back to his counting-house...
7 years later...
¨Crachit! What do you think you´re doing with that coal???¨ Scrooge caught his apprentice, Bob Crachit, taking a piece of coal to use in the furnace, for the counting-house was freezing. ¨I was...um....just....heh.heh...umm thawing out the ink for my quill, Mr. Scrooge.¨ The turtle had a piece in his claws. Scrooge grabbed the piece back and threw it in a bucket. ¨You used a piece last week! Now get back to work!¨ he yelled at him. Crachit ran back to his desk and got back to writing more financial documents. Scrooge puffed out his red and white tail as he counted his coins on his desk. ¨80,781, 80,782, 80,783...¨ Crachit timidly walked up to his desk. ¨What is it now, Crachit?¨ Scrooge asked with a mean tone. ¨Umm, since Christmas is tomorrow, I was wondering if I could take the day off to be with my family.....Is that ok?¨ Crachit asked. Scrooge looked really upset at his question. He raised his cane at him. ¨Bah! Christmas is just another workday. Those that don´t work on Christmas are just lazy! However, you are a hard worker, so fine! You can take tomorrow off, but I'm docking your salary in half!¨ Scrooge replied. ¨Oh thank you, sir!¨ Crachit jumped for joy. ¨Bah, enough!¨ Crachit got back to work as his nephew, Fred came to his counting-house. ¨Merry Christmas, Uncle!¨ The tannish-white dog had burst through the door with the biggest grin. ¨Bah! Humbug! What are you doing here, nephew?¨ ¨I´ve come to invite you to Christmas dinner with my family.¨ Scrooge looked surprised at first. ¨Really? Do you mean the kind that has turkey? Pudding? Gravy?¨ ¨Yeah! You wanna come over and enjoy Christmas with us?¨ Fred joyously said as he had a big grin. ¨Are you crazy??? You know I can´t eat that stuff. Now just, get, get outta here, you!¨ The fox had gotten up and kicked out the dog then slammed the door on him. A couple of minutes later, 2 badgers had come in. ¨Ahh, customers. Watch this, Crachit.¨ Scrooge had gotten back up and happily, approached his customers. ¨Welcome, gentlemen, what can I do for you?¨ The badgers holding bags said ¨Sir, we are here to collect funds for the physically unfortunate.¨ One badger said. ¨For the what?¨ Scrooge tried clarifying. ¨We´re collecting for the poor.¨ the other badger said. ¨Well, hmmm....you do realize that if you give money to the poor, then they won't be poor anymore, and if they are not poor anymore, you won't have to collect for them, and if you can´t collect money for them, you'll be out of a job. Oh, men, please, don´t ask me to put you out of a job. Not on Christmas...¨ Scrooge had said, using a sense of logic. ¨Oh, no sir.¨ The badgers saw his logic and questioned themselves. ¨Here, you want something for the poor, take this!¨ He threw a wreath that Bob Crachit had given earlier. The badgers and the wreath all flew out the door. ¨Bah! Those thieves! You work so hard for money, and people want you to give it away...
Are there no prisons? No workhouses for the poor?¨ Scrooge sleepily said. He yawned as his clocked struck 9:30 pm. Scrooge and Crachit walked out and with the click of the lock, Crachit walked home one way, and Scrooge the other way. As he walked through town, people stopped what they did and looked solemnly at him. He scowled at a group of cats singing Christmas songs and hymns for charity. When the fox got to his front door, he saw a familiar face in his doorknob. He thought the face looked like his partner Jacob Marley. ¨Jacob? Is that you?¨ Scrooge asked as he looked at his doorknob. He turned it and the house was the same. He put on his nightgown and went to bed. ¨Eeeebeeneeeezeer Scroooooge.¨ The fox quickly looked up and saw a ghostly person with a tail. He saw it was his skunk partner Jacob Marley. ¨Jacob? Is this really you?¨ ¨No, I'm Santa Claus. Of course, it's me!. I was your partner!¨ the skunk sarcastically replied back. ¨Ebenezer, remember when I was alive, I swindled the poor, tricked the sick for their money, and cheated people out of their money?¨ ¨Yes, and all in the same day. Oh, you had class, Jacob.¨ Scrooge happily said as he remembered the times when Marley was alive. ¨Heh heh heh yeah. Wait wait wait, No! No! I was wrong! And now as punishment, I´m forced to carry the chains I forged in life for eternity, and your chains will be heavier than mine!¨ Marley said as he showed his chains. Scrooge was really scared at this. ¨Oh, spirit! How can I avoid this???¨ ¨Tonight, you will be visited by 3 spirits. Listen to them, and do as they say, or you will be bound by the same fate as me...¨ Jacob had vanished away, back into thin air, but Scrooge thought it was just all fake. ¨Bah! Spirits! They don´t exist!¨ The fox curled up and used his big tail as a pillow and went to sleep.
Chapter 2:
Scrooge had heard his clock strike midnight and he saw a yellow glow in his bedroom. ¨Augggh! Who are you???¨ Scrooge asked, with a scared sense. ¨I am the Ghost of Christmas Past¨ The fox with purple fur and grey fur and glasses had grabbed the red fox´s paw. ¨Come on, Scrooge! We´re gonna visit your past.¨ ¨But, but I´ll fall! The Ghost had started flying and Scrooge was flying alongside too. ¨Augggghhh! Help me!¨ Scrooge said as he and the Ghost were zipping around London. Soon, they stopped at a big school in the English countryside. ¨Ẅait, I remember this place...Ahh, now I remember. This was the school I went to when I was a small kit.¨ Ebenezer said as he looked at his younger self. ¨Hey Ebenezer, tag you're it!¨ A small wolf had said to the little fox as the 2 chased each other. ¨Look, spirit, this was how happy I was. And that's how I feel with money! Happy and good.¨ ¨Hmmph! Come on, let's go visit another past!¨ The 2 foxes had flown again to a big building labeled ´Fezziwig´s´. ¨Wait, I remember this place too! Old Fezziwig gave me my first job.¨ Scrooge and the Spirit look through a window and saw himself as an adolescent teenage fox, dancing the waltz with a young vixen. ¨Oh, Ebenezer, someday we´ll build a house together and raise a family.¨ the vixen said to the young fox. ¨I would love that.¨ Ebenezer said as the couple danced more. ¨See, Scrooge, You weren´t always the sad, greedy lonely miser you are today, but over time, you learned to love something else.¨ The Spirit and Scrooge had flown once more to see his counting-house again. ¨1,310, 1,311, 1,312...¨. Scrooge saw himself again counting his coins. ¨Oh, Ebenezer, I´ve had this idea for a house to build, and Im wondering if you wanna marry me. Have you made up your mind?¨ Scrooge looked at her young-looking face. ¨I have! You´re 3 months behind on your home payments! I'm foreclosing on the mortgage!¨ She looked, with her heart, broke, started crying and bawling. ¨YOU SELFISH MAN!!!¨ The vixen had run away with tears like waterfalls. ¨Oh, Spirit, please I cant take any more memories...¨ Scrooge said with remorse in his heart. ¨Remember, Scrooge, You made them yourself.¨ the Spirit said. Ebenezer closed his eyes, and he saw himself back in his bed, in his own house again. ¨I can´t belive this has happened to me.¨ Scrooge said, as a tear welled up in his eye.
Chapter 3:
Scrooge went back to sleep, and later his clock struck 1. Ebenezer tossed and turned because of the noise of his clock, but also hearty laughing too. ¨Who is that?¨ Ebenezer said as he looked. He opened his bedroom door and saw a huge dining room feast of turkeys, pies, and every food out there. At the end of the table was a giant, black and white, fat coyote, dressed in a green robe rubbing his big belly. ¨HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. OH, Scrooge, come up here. Scrooge grabbed on the coyote´s robe and he was pulled up. ¨I am the Ghost of Christmas Present.¨ he said to Scrooge. Ebenezer looked around the giant feast. ¨Where did all this food come from, Spirit?¨ ¨This is the Feast of Generosity, which you have longed denied.¨ ¨Hah! Generosity, no one has EVER shown ME generosity!¨ ¨Well, you have never given anyone any reason to. Now, let's go!¨ The giant fat coyote had gotten up. Scrooge fell down but grabbed on the coyote´s huge tail. The Spirit had ran, with a huge thump with every step, to the house of Bob Crachit. ¨This is the home of your poorly paid apprentice, Bob Crachit.¨ The coyote laid belly down, and Scrooge let go of the tail to look through the window. As Scrooge walked up to the Crachits window, something began to happen to the Ghost. He began to age. His fur slowly becoming gray.
Scrooge saw Crachit and his family, prepping for Christmas dinner, but everything was small and cheap. ¨Tim, dinner is almost ready¨ Bob said, as his family came to their table. ¨I´m coming, Papa.¨ The little fox came as he walked with a limp, holding on to his cane. ¨Oh, dearie, thank you.¨ Crachit´s wife said. ¨Oh, Spirit, Surely they have more food than this.¨ The Ghost replied. No, they do not. And if you don't change your ways soon...I see an empty chair where the little fox once sat.¨ Scrooge looked at Tim. ¨Then that means he will...¨ Scrooge almost cried. ¨Oh, Spirit, please! I wanna go home!¨ The tiny red fox closed his eyes and opened them. He wasnt in front of the Crachit home anymore. But what looked like the inside of a huge clock. Scrooge noticed the Ghost, his fur super light gray, almost white, instead of the dark black it was before. "Must you die so quickly?" he asked the Spirit. The coyote replied "My time on this earth is very short". He began to age more, his fur becoming more lighter and paler by the second. Something tiny popped from the bottom of his robe. A tiny paw. Scrooge asked "Something is protruding from your robe. Is it a foot, a claw?". The coyote opened his robe, to reveal two tiny, scrawny, shriveled and ghastly black and white furred coyote pups. A boy and a girl. Scrooge was so frightened, that he didnt wanna look at them. The Spirit said "Look, DOWN HERE!!!". Are these two yours?" Scrooge asked. "They are man's. The boy is Ignorance. The girl is Want. Avoid them both" Suddenly, a giant bell started to strike. The first time, the Ghost felt a sharp pain in his chest and fell to the floor. As the bell chimed, Ignorance manifested into a form of Scrooge. Using his own words against him. "Are there no prisons?", and a cage instantly fell over him. Want manifested into an insane woman, in a straightjacket. "Are there no workhouses?" She cackled insanely as she and Ignorance withered away. As the bell almost finished striking, the Spirit was laughing as he became more pale. Finally, the Spirit's fur had fallen off, and his body gone, except his skeleton, which kept laughing until it withered away. Scrooge closed his eyes in fear, and when he opened them, He was back in his bed. He looked and saw his bedroom again, and went back to sleep. ¨What is happening to me?¨ Scrooge asked himself, as he closed his eyes again.
Chapter 4:
Scrooge heard his clock strike 3, then he saw a black eerie fog seeping around him and his bed. He started to cower in fear as he looked. A black robe-like figure grabbed Scrooge´s paw and threw him out of bed to another part of town, where he saw the citizens of London, rummaging through cloths and blankets. ¨Heh heh heh, he had the finest fur blankets in all of England. The poor can REALLY use this.¨ A leopard said as he sold the blanket. ¨Yep! Now, that he´s gone, all of England, and hopefully the world can now rest in happiness.¨ a female raccoon said. Scrooge, shocked, recognized his blankets and cloths. ¨But, those are my things. What's going on?¨ The black figure had thrown Scrooge again to another vision where he saw Crachit´s family crying and mourning. ¨It´s ok, dear. He´s in a better place now.¨ Bob said to his wife. ¨I know. I just wish I could see him one last time. Oh, my baby boy....¨ The family soon had followed a hearse holding the child, all the way to a cemetery, where Scrooge and the Spirit saw Bob burying his son´s casket. ¨No, Spirit! Please, I didnt want this to happen! Please!¨ He looked at a gravestone, and asked ¨Who´s lonely grave is this?¨ The figure unhooded himself to reveal a cigar-smoking black and white snake. ¨Why, yours, Ebenezer! The richest man in the cemetery.¨ The grave opened up and Scrooge fell into a deep, deep, chasm and saw a red and orange opening where his casket was as it burned and was covered in flames. ¨No, no, no, PLEEEEASE!!! I´LL CHANGE!!! ¨AHHHHHHHHHHH¨......
Chapter 5:
Scrooge looked around and saw he was in bed. It was all the same. His clock struck 8 am. ¨I´m, I'm still here. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. IM STILL HERE!¨ The fox happily jumped out of bed and danced around. He opened his window and saw a small lion cub pulling a sled. ¨You there, fine lad, what day is it?¨ Scrooge asked. ¨Today? Why, Christmas Day!¨ ¨Its Christmas Day! I can change for the better.¨ Scrooge said to himself. ¨You know the turkey in the butcher's shop, not the big one, but the HUGE one. Is that sold?¨ ¨Sold? Its still there, sir.¨ The cub responded. ¨Go there and buy it for me, please.¨ Scrooge asked. ¨Walk-ER¨ angrily said the cub. ¨No, no please, Im serious. Buy it for me and I´ll give you 5 shillings. Come back in 5 minutes and you´ll get half a crown!¨ The cub smiled and quickly ran away to the shop. Scrooge then got ready for the day. ¨Ok sir, here the bird.¨ The cub came back, and a big lion came too, holding a giant turkey. ¨Oh, this is too big to carry by paw! Take a cab to Camden Town. I´ll meet you there!¨ The lion and cub went into a horse-drawn carriage, with the turkey, and Scrooge sent them away. As he did, he saw his nephew. ¨Oh, Nephew! Nephew!, I have decided to go to your Christmas dinner!¨ Fred was surprised. ¨You really mean it???¨ Scrooge, with a grin, nodded. ¨OH, UNCLE! THANK YOU!¨ Fred ran home with a happy feeling in his heart. Later that day, Scrooge was eating at Fred´s table, with all of his friends and family. With his belly overstuffed, the fox had walked to Bob Crachit´s house. On the way there. He saw the 2 badgers from earlier. ¨Merry Christmas, gentlemen. I have a gift for you!¨ Scrooge had dumped a ton of coins and threw bags of money around the badgers. ¨Wow! Scrooge! This is...just...well....¨ Scrooge said, ¨Don't say another word, gentlemen. Hope the poor love what I give them. Have a Merry Christmas¨ The badgers looked at Scrooge as he walked away. They both smiled at him. Soon, Ebenezer knocked on Bob´s door, but pretended to be mean again. ¨Oh, ummmm......Scrooge.....uhhh hello?¨ Bob said as he shook in fear. ¨I have had ENOUGH of this ´day off´ stuff. You leave me no other choice, but to.........¨ Bob was even more scared. ¨....to.....give you a raise, and I'm making you my partner!¨ Bob was surprised, as Scrooge laughed and smiled. ¨I´m gonna do whatever it takes to help you and your family out.¨ Scrooge said. Soon, Tim came and sat on Scrooge´s shoulders and they both went out and played in the snow. And so, as Tiny Tim observed.
¨God Bless Us, Everyone!¨
