just a little bit of scrap i had written up for this guy. none of it proofread:
* Cetus is a blind species of alien from a sunless world covered in water; however its two large moons cause significant tectonic stress causing the formation of numerous geothermal vents that provided the species with both warmth and power. They have yet to enter space but have a society that is relatively similar to current-day earth.
* The lump (melon) on the back of their head is protected by bone but hollow; connected to its brain in a similar way to our ears. It's filled with a thick liquid that gives them the ability to locate things by sound. However they do often have trouble living with other species as ordinary background noise from people, places and things like computers/engines/etc typically overwhelm them.
* Despite being cold-blodded, they have nipple-like protrusions on their chest. While there are similarities to how mammals feed their young, they actually produce a hormone that triggers the growth phase of their young. Because of this they are often hunted down and killed by several species who believed this liquid had aphrodisiac or performance enhancing properties.
* They are known for a potent hallucinogenic beverage that very few species can tolerate and in humans will trigger affects similar to overdosing on nutmeg, which is an overall unpleasant experience for anyone but their species. However they completely lack any ability to handle/process alcohol and even a weak alcoholic beverage can knock them on their ass.
* They have only one gender but because of their overall masculine appearance most races just refer to the few specimens they've encountered with masculine pronouns. As the entire concept of gender is unknown to them they have never really complained about this and will often encourage this label to simply help avoid confusing various gendered races. Using It/Its and They/Them pronouns however are always appreciated.
* Their body odor (to humans & other species) varies greatly, due to the fact that it contains a chemical that some humans lack the ability to smell similar to asparagus and its effect on urine. To some it's an incredibly thick, masculine odor while others smell almost nothing at all.
Bee-weep.
The sound of a doorbell rang through the unusually large quarters, echoing off the walls and instantly causing a large mass to shift and grumble-whine on a bed. Empty plates, bowls, cups and bottles littered the room - as did a variety of fabric in varying states of disrepair.
Bee-weep. Bee-weep.
SHHNK!
Deciding that they've given enough warning, a human man forced the door open using his authorization code and sighed at the sight. In some ways he couldn't blame the alien; the colossal creature having been kidnapped at a young age by space privateers and then spent its entire life in a cramped cell. It'd mess anyone up but, still. He wished it'd at least put the dishes back into the food replicator. 'Species 9924', a currently unnamed species hailing from a rouge planet with two unusually large moons. The whole planet is an ocean; or so he's heard as going near it was off-limits. The alien's species was both sentient and sapient sure but had yet to enter space of their own volition; thus outsiders would ordinarily not be permitted to interact with them save for excruciating circumstances, such as this.
"Don't try to act like you can't hear me, Cetus. I know how sensitive your hearing is."
With a frustrated snarl, 'Cetus' pushed himself up in its bed. If one were to take a closer look they'd notice that his bed was actually 3 beds pushed together, each one letting out a low creak in protest as the taupe-grey creature threw its digitigrade legs off the side of the bed. Each leg - much like his arms - must've weighed a few hundred pounds each. Aside from the size, its body was... humanoid-esque. A massive torso with two soft pecs and a belly hung off his form; saucer-sized nipples a rusty orange colour adorning each. It was - in fact - the only other colour on it, from the palms of its massive hands to the spikes that adorned its shoulders, back and tail - all that same, rusty orange.
Speaking of its tail: the massive appendage was nearly as thick as the alien's body and weighed just as much, taking up a significant amount of space behind it. It was so large that it somewhat impeded their movement as they moved to get u; having to heft it under one arm as he slid to the very edge of his bed(s) and stood up - only for his head to *CLANG* against the metal bulkhead above.
The gargantuan alien was close to 12ft (363cm) tall with its head just barely brushing against the ceiling of the quarters. Crouching down in pain, Cetus brought his hands up to his head and looked as if they were shaking. It ran its fingers along its eyeless, noseless, rectangular head that was vaguely reminiscent of a reptile or dragon. The only real two features on their head were its rust-coloured fangs (so large that they pushed out past his lips) and its 'melon'. Cetus' species - being aquatic - could see via echolocation, much like a whale or dolphin. A small, somewhat cone shaped segment of its skull bulged out from the back of their head. Covered in bone but filled with a viscous oil, the 'melon' enabled them to see just as well as anyone could with eyes; if not more.
The human cringed, leaning over to gently pat the alien's arm. Its skin was smooth and squeaky, feeling almost like a rubber suit. Its body was also cold to the touch; somehow managing to stay a few degrees below room temperature. "Oof... Sorry buddy, I don't mean to rush but we gotta get you dressed. Where's your shirt?"
Cetus turned its head to toward the human and looked (what the human had to learned to interpret) nervous. It gestured with its hands while letting out a low, song-like moan. They unfortunately lacked the capability to produce human speech and because Cetus' was the first of their kind to be encountered by humanity, there wasn't yet a reliable translation matrix for the auto-translator. Despite this, it seemed to have a decent grasp of English and did their best to gesture that all of its shirts had been torn.
