This year was the first I was FINALLY able to do this meme because I created art on a consistent enough basis to have at least one art per month! I’m very proud of my productivity this year, which is mostly due to my acquisition of my iPad Pro early this year. Since I got into digital art in 2013, I used GIMP because it was free (I used it for my photography first but then realized creating digital art with it was possible) and I found it comfortable to use … until I realized it wasn’t. While it could have been possible with more time and dedication, I never got comfy with drawing on a tablet but having my eyes on the screen. Pen/pencil-to-paper with my eyes on the paper was always my ideal way of drawing, and with my iPad I can replicate that feeling but jump straight into the digital part (instead of drawing on paper first, scanning it, then doing the digital stuff) and art is just as easy and waaay more fun now.
Overall, I’m very proud of myself and of the works I created. I’m trying not to bash my old artwork as much as I used to, because hey, we all had to start somewhere, but looking at my work from this past year compared to when I started/before I got my iPad, I can see the improvement and I’m very happy with my style right now. I’m always improving and trying new things with almost every new piece I create, and I look forward to doing this meme next year!
Regarding this meme, my works in the September-December slots are my faves that I made this year, with November’s being my overall proudest work. That one took a lot of time and effort and taught me how to render snowy environments, which I love sooo much.
