So I said that I thought there would be a style change coming soon... but who knew it would be this soon! Honestly, this was not at all what I was envisioning for Raichu when I said "style change," in a way my hand just ran away from me and made... this! I'm not complaining. :) A big part of it was that I was playing around with some pen settings in Photoshop, and realized that my opacity and flow were not set to pen pressure. So I was like, "what the hell, lets see what its like," and... WOW. HUGE difference! I can't believe I've been going so long without it!
So, here is my first official piece without any straight line-art. (I always wondered how other digital artists managed to pull it off; now I know!) Raichu seems to have been caught off-guard by a random Zubat, something I'm sure we've all experienced before. (CONFUSION! >:O) Luckily, Raichu is more then capable of taking out a mere Zubat... I hope. :o
Something else that kept coming to mind as I made this was a Raichu character named Raelle from the fanfiction "Me and My Flame." It's been years since I've spent any time reading fanfiction, but it used to be a minor past-time of mine. Though most of the stuff I read was crap, "Me and My Flame" was a Pokemon fanfiction that had over 50 chapters. And it was... really good. :O The story is basically about this Charizard whose life is a string of bad events, and one of the minor characters (among many) is a Raichu named Raelle. She is actually nothing like the Raichu I drew above; she was a chubby Pokemon with too many bad habits, and her tail had been chopped off earlier in her childhood. The thing is, there were so many points where she was down in the dumps and then rebounded, and I guess the fallen over Raichu that I drew was reminding me of one of those slumps. Oh well, long story short, check out "Me and My Flame" if you have a few days to burn. You can google it, and its still pretty decent if I do say so myself.
Fewfta, that was a lot of rambling. Anyway, hope you enjoy this new style. I'll probably do more like this in the future.
