Like I said, DMC has had a very horrible track record. And I hated playing as Nero in DMC4 because he walked around very slowly like he had a stick up his butt. The combat didn't flow at all. I heard that the game is really good once you get to play as Dante, but that's HALF WAY THROUGH THE GAME. I'm not going to play half a bad game to play half a good game. ... that's still a bad game.
Mind you, at this time Ninja Theory released Heavenly Sword. While the story telling was off kilter (which isn't a valid argument since the storyline in DMC makes no sense at all), playing as Nariko is extremely super smooth and amazing. Very agile, nimble, and 3 branching fighting styles that you could swap between on the fly. ... Nero could barely move around on the playing feild, had an unexplained demon hand that did nothing, and a chainsaw sword that was useless in application. ... I'm going with Ninja Theory on this one.
So yeah, I say reboot the hell out of the sucker.

About Nero:
Revving "Chainsaw" sword: An engine to charge up for heavy strikes and counters. It's a timing issue, but even though I learned to use it, I still thought it was pathetic.
Devil Arm: This was his main mode of countering, defending, and generally brutalizing enemies. It was nothing more than a shield and a beatstick.
That handgun with the double barrel: a piece of shit. I hate that stupid gun. Good lord do I hate that stupid blue peashooter of his.
I really tried to like Nero. I really did. But his useless attacks, coupled with his lack of Dante-ness(combos and quick execution kills, not to mention other weaponry) really made me not like the kid. His attitude was alright, he just wasn't Dante. And after putting constant hours into training with DMC 3 Dante and then being thrown someone who was essentially always in Brawler mode instead of Swordmaster style or Gunslinger. Many of us were thrown for a loop. The kid should have gotten different modes for his arm that were akin to Devils Arms that Dante got, rather than just brawler moves and some pathetic power-ups. His lack of variety really makes him weak when compared to Dante's DMC4 counterpart...who can switch styles on the fly and kill everything in the game.
I'm not liking the reboot much because I still have attachments to the original series. But if it plays well and looks better than the stupid trailer made it look(Really? Silent Hill "creepy" wiggler enemies? Get the hell outta here...), then I'll play it. I just hope we avoid the same mistakes made with Nero. Nero was passable... this new Dante is an unknown and a year plus away from even being in a demo of the game.
