This is a Christmas present for
devilwolf9, one of the biggest Rudolph fans I know.
And he's also a fan of Marvel, so I've decided to draw Rudolph and his friends (along with two very special guest stars) as the Avengers!
I've always thought that the Rankin-Bass Christmas specials were kinda similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, given how certain characters appear in specials that aren't focused on them, and eventually, they ended up in a big crossover special. The MCU follows a similar format, hence the idea of making this piece. XD
So here, we have the Misfits, a small band of holiday heroes that come together to save Christmas in times of trouble. Leading the group is Captain Red-Nose, a reindeer super soldier who was given the gift of the Star in the Snowflake by the Lady Borealis that makes his red nose glow. The symbol is featured on his costume as well as his indestructible shield. He uses his nose to light the way to lead the heroes to victory.
Next to Captain Red-Nose is his best friend, Hermeye, an elf archer who also has dreams of becoming a dentist. He uses various trick arrows, some even shaped like teeth, to take out his enemies. And, once they're unconscious, he uses his pliers to yank out their teeth, rendering them useless. His heroics often go unappreciated, even by his fellow heroes, but he's still a valued member of the team.
Up next is the Black Doe, who happens to be Rudolph's girlfriend, Clarice. Due to endless training in the Reindeer Games Program, she has become an efficient super spy for Santa Fury. When Rudolph was mocked at the Reindeer Games for his red nose, Black Doe stood up for him, and complimented his nose, calling it handsome. He was so grateful, he allowed her to join the team.
Another of Captain Red-Nose's friends is Yukon Cornelius, alias Tinsel Man. An indecisive prospector, he has journeyed all over the North Pole in search of something valuable. He eventually found it in the form of a tinsel alloy, which he made an armor out of when a run-in with a yeti struck him in the heart. He serves the Misfits as their guide throughout the North, offering some insight to the young heroes.
There are also two other members of the team that come and go as they please. Like Thonk, for instance, the lost Asgardian penguin armed with an enchanted toilet plunger. Often going by the name Topper, he journeys the North in search of a way home. He eventually joined the Misfits after using his powers of thunder and his annoying honking to drive away a pack of savage yetis.
Finally, we have the Incredible Warlock. An anger-prone hermit with powers over the snow in the North, he first encountered the Misfits when they cut through his property. However, they shared their kindness with the Warlock by giving him a toy choo-choo, and he transformed to his true form, mild-mannered Bruce Winter. Now, he offers his magic powers to the team, and can even transform into the Warlock when need be.
So, there you have it, the Misfits. The North Pole's Mightiest Heroes. They're ready to save Christmas, and defend Christmas Town from all sorts of dangerous threats, including the leader of the yetis, the Abomidable Snow-Loki, and their most dangerous foe, the Mad Burgermeister Meisterthanos.
Oh, yeah. I'm REALLY proud of this piece. And, I hope you guys like it. Especially you, Wolf!
Merry Christmas, everybody!
