because yes the subclass was too conceptually interesting to pass on.
the idea that you could personalise each spell, explain what physical and natural phenomenon you employ to switch the damage type or saving throw of your spells, adding uniqueness and technique to each of them sounds waaaaay too fun not to try.
i just nerfed one awful exploit by keeping certain key spells like 'hold person' from demanding a DEX or STR saving through as the result would be a 1min guaranteed paralysis should the first save fail
