Michael and Amanda arrive at the Engagement Party. Michael is surprised at the style of the mansion the Reynard family calls home. Michael notices that the "dining" room looks more like a ballroom. After a relatively simple meal, Michael asks Amanda to dance much to the consternation of many of the patrons. After several minutes, Reginald Reynard, III, cuts in and dances with Amanda. He leads her to the head table where he makes the announcement that Amanda is his fiance. After forcing a kiss on Amanda, Reginald becomes the focus of Amanda's ire when she cold-cocks him with a haymaker.

Okay. Well, I haven't dwelled on it too much but, earlier in the story, Michael tells Amanda about how in his previous life, i.e. late 21st Century Human Era, Michael never had a lot of luck with the ladies. In fact, many of them used him to get another guy interested in them. Now, he believes that Amanda has been playing him in a similar manner.
