Karma, a female snow leopard (Panthera uncia) at Jungle Cat World, observes the sunset on her last day at Jungle Cat World. This will likely be my last photo of her.
After this photo was taken, we moved her into a moving crate and sent her to her new home at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo. It must not have been a very pleasant experience, but she made it safe and sound. If anyone is willing to report on how she is doing or share photos, I would very much appreciate it. She is a lovely cat and I want her to live a long and happy life.

Snow leopards are found in mountainous central Asia, also called "the roof of the world". They are acclimated for some of the harshest terrain and climate in the world and are extremely elusive. Sadly, snow leopards are not elusive enough to escape the hand of man. They are an endangered species and there may be as few as 3,000 left in the wild with populations decreasing. Individuals are often the victims of revenge killing after taking village livestock, poaching for their bones and skin, prey depletion and habitat loss.
