I remember reading something about an inverse relationship concerning the 'flash' of a military uniform and the overall competence of its fighting force....

Oddly, that was my favorite series because how beat up that squad got in their episodes when compared against the 'super invincible' Gundam's original series. ^_^

The final fight against the Gouf Custom was just total bad ass.

yeah I'll admit if I wasn't a Fedy at heart I would join Zeon just to have a custom Gouf.

I'll give the Feds credit for their GP designs, but they totally dropped the ball with the Titans.

Well, there was two gundam unit that were made. Both of them were destoryed at Battle of A Baoa Qu, Johnny Ridden (the zeon pliot with the most kills out of anyother pliot in the one year war. 185 kills ) destoryed the FA-78-Gundam Full Armor Type but he was listed as MIA by the end of the battle.

Actually there were many types. The prototype G-1. The main series G-2, or the RX-78 whatever you wanna call it. The Magnetic Coated or G3. All the Ground based ones run by the 08th and other MS Teams as well as the White Dingo squad. The Mudrock Gundam which took on White Fenrir. The 3 Blue Destiny units with EXAM systems. The Gundam Unit 4 and 5 on the Thoroughbred. The Full Armor Gundam (lol, FAG) and the Gundam Alex...despite it's series being titled 0080. And if I remember, there was an Aqua Gundam, though I dunno if MSV variants count during the OYW. Does the Char Custom count or is it not canon?

True very true. There are more than one type and yes the Char's Custom would count despite the fact, I believe it only shows up in a few books and the Gihren game series. At any rate, I like the Zeon MS better anyways. However I think the Principality of Zeon should had mass produce the EMS-10 Zudah in their arsenal and not the limit the number of them because of the engine overload error which needed to be corrceted. However they loose the Zeon Ace pliot, Jean Luc Duvall.

The death of the Zudah, not only because of the engine error, was mostly in part to the sneaky tactics of the Zeonic corporation when they brought out the Zaku 1. They must've offered cheaper prices and a long contract with Zeon to win their bid. Not to mention the piloting system in the Zaku and other series on up (with exception to the Gelgoog) were easy enough to pilot that nearly anyone can hop in. Zudah was more of an ace unit, even if it was altered (slightly) when it's remake was brought out, even if it was the identical machine.

And I don't know if it's canon like how they changed the fate of M'quve from dying against Gundam in the series to dying against a battleship in Char's Deleted Affair, but it seems that Ridden survived the OYW

I only read the first chapter, but it wouldn't surprise me. Char and Shin Matsunaga survived to be involved in the Zeta arc, though Shin died in the Evolved ep when he crashed his Buster Zeta against a Titan's Mobile Armor.

True, it seems like you know your stuff but that did not stop some Zeon ploits from using a few of the models during the war and even post war operations from pockets. One thing that kinda bothers me, is that the fact that almost nothing is put out on the infantry or naval battles that happen during the one year war. Such as U.S. Military and Zeon Military clashing during the second invasion of earth.

I don't think that the US existed by the time the Universal Century came around. I think they got integrated in the Earth Federation similar to the United Nations. And Zeon pretty much devastated the naval forces with their Z'goks and other aquatic suits. The ground forces were pretty much devastated until the GM rolled out as it was shown in MS Igloo 2. Tanks were pretty much ground Balls. I think the only advantage the Feds had were better air fighters against the Dopps until the Goufs on Dodai's rolled out. That and having alot more star ships with AA defenses, even if they blow up as easily as water balloons.

Second invasion? Are you referring to Operation Stardust or the Neo Zeon invasion from ZZ Gundam?
