Sorry, After a bit of calming myself, I should expand on my comment.
It touched a nerve from back in May when my roomates 14 year old lab had to be put down. Age and her systems failing and the like. This was kind of a kickback to the day I took her to the vet, and the hour of crying I did holding her afterwards. I feel the emotion here.

You never loose their love. They will always love you. They will never forget you for your moment of compassion to do what they could not in their time of need. You will see them again.
