I recently rediscovered "Hearts Of Steel", which is a 4-part mini series of comics about a what-if scenario of the Transformers awakening in the late 19th century instead of the late 20th century. And after obsessing over the many designs for the characters, I thought I'd come up with a design of my own.

I chose Ultra Magnus since I've been playing with his Siege toy a lot recently. I imagined him as being similar to Optimus, and while the front of him should look like the front of HoS Optimus, I decided "Screw it, the siege and kingdom toys of them aren't remolds, why should my design be a copy of something?" and decided to make my own design.

The design mainly took cues from the Siege toy, mostly the colors (Which I'm the most satisfied with). Ultra Magnus is usually a car carrier of some sort, but given how this wasn't a thing back in those days, I went with him being a big freight engine with attached box car, which could still carry the Autobots into battle. Given how I suck at drawing humanoids, I didn't design a robot mode, so use your imagination I guess.

Regardless, this was a fun little project.
