While the "Smartass" you know got thrown into a vat of Dip, another version of him lives on the animated planet of Cartoonia.
Born to a lower-middle class family in Barstow, Cartoonifornia, David "Smartass" Sorrentino worked odd jobs in his youth before a chance encounter with L.A. crime boss Mickey Cohen in 1942. "Smartass" would become one of Cohen's top enforcers throughout the 40's before FBI investigations forced him underground. Seeking to continue a life of crime, "Smartass" would accept the evil Disney Corporation's offer to form an elite hit squad with their financial backing, becoming its leader as well as its first member. Disney would help "Smartass" recruit members for the team and arm them with advanced weapons, such as giving him a blaster pistol conversion of a Walther P38. Now, his team's top priority is the assassination of the hero of the non-Disney resistance, Chanticleer Bluth, as well as any other significant enemy leaders.
As Smartass's original look was reflective of the 1940's, I decided to update it for mid-1955, when my story takes place. His original fedora is replaced with a trilby with a proper bow in the hatband, and the double-breasted jacket is swapped out for a simpler single-breasted jacket. The diamond tie pin and chain are gone, and the necktie is now a solid tie with a square emblem at the center, common for neckties at the time. I gave him some much-needed pants, which are white pleated pants, and together with the jacket, they make a period-accurate odd suit. Instead of spats, I gave "Smartass" two-toned oxford shoes with a full brogue, showing that he's not completely lacking in vanity.
