"Finally revenge! Today, king of mice. Tonight, king of dolls. Tomorrow, KING OF EVERYTHING!!!"
My late Christmas project: The Mouse King. The main villain from the 1990 Canadian animated Christmas movie "The Nutcracker Prince".
I remember long ago of seeing a preview of The Nutcracker Prince on some previews from an old "The Flight Of Dragons" VHS tape from Warner Home Video along with some other previews animated movies. But I never watched the movie. Until a couple of years later, I found and purchase a DVD of the movie and watched it. The movie was very good and I do like classic 2D animated movies. If anyone recalls, the movie was produced by Kevin Gillis who did The Raccoons cartoon and specials back in the 80s. It's a perfect film to watch during the holidays and there was one and only character that really got my interest: The Mouse King.
I love the Mouse King. Despite his meanspirited nature and him being a villain, he was a strong and vicious mouse who's obsessed with revenge on the Nutcracker Prince aka Hans for ruining his tail. His design and belly was perfect for him. I do love fat and musclegut characters. I'm not much into his design in the flashback. The scene of his final appearance in the movie where he was in a dying state after being slayed by the Nutcracker Prince was a terrifying yet epic scene of him. The way he suddenly appeared with swirling eyes and breathing heavily and stalking and attempt to kill the Nutcracker's beloved Clara was the best. His eyes was my inspiration for Blackwolf when he's in a crazed state.
As you can see I've made a few changes to the Mouse King like changing his tunic into leotard in the same design and giving him some muscle.
They'll be a few more concept art of the Mouse King coming soon including one with him with swirling eyes like from the end of his appearance in the movie and another one of him dressed only in a speedo in the color of his tunic/leotard.
Still was very sad that the voice actor for the Mouse King, Mike MacDonald, died back in March 2018 which was almost four years ago. He had a very great voice for him. God bless him.
